Stopped in here on Sunday evening and they actually had plenty of staff working for a change. Gone was the interminable wait to get served. I often gave up waiting to get served in here and went next door instead. And the roast beef was much improved - but then it ought to be at nine quid....

Still plagued by kids running up and down. Fair enough in the garden, but not in the bar. Why do people insist on imposing their brats on others?

But it was still a lot better than it used to be. Hope it wasn't just a one-off.

It could just be that this pub is turning the corner - though maybe too early to call.
The most irritating thing about this pub is waiting. Waiting endlessly to be served a pint. Waiting endlessly to order food. Waiting endlessly for the food to arrive.
With all this you may question my sanity that i have returned here, twice, in the past month. Well its well situated by river - tick, it as a playground where the kids can play while the adults can have time off to chat and drink - big tick, its just the right distance from our house for picturesque bike ride - big tick.

However, as I mentioned this place may be on the up (I hadn't realised it'd just been taken over by a brewery). There are early postive shoots....it only took me 5 minutes to be served, the barmaid smiled and was polite, they have hog roasts, bbqs, pimms 'tent' all now outside with regularity. So yes, I will probably come back here again to see if it was just a flash in the pan or whether the customer is finally coming first.

Im begining to become a regular at the Anglers for the simple reason that its a fun and friendly place to go. I have 2 kids and they loving it here the staff are always so nice and polite well to me they are i dont know how they always have a smile on there face because i have seen some people be really rude to them but they just get on with there job. I went for the St George's weekend and what a lovley time we had even my husband go involved had a go at the coconut shy it was such a fun day and the kids got there faces painted. i was in on wedensday for lunch and had a read at there news letter and there is another day planned for independance day 4th july im excited about that already!!! i just want to say keep up all the good work and see you sunday

Didn't even bother when I went past this place yesterday it was more like a kindergarten than a pub.
