| Busy pub with good well-kept Everards beers on offer. Outside tables in the recently-repaved area keep the road traffic at a distance. Also outside is a modern stone sculpture based on the Eleanor Cross (last existing stone of the original can be seen in the town museum): very nice if you like that kind of thing. | Close to the bus station is the Golden Fleece, an Everards pub and the last one we visited on this crawl. It was a clean tidy pub, and we had Everards Flourish. Football was on TV here, but what we liked was the TV was at one end of the bar area, there was another area that was quieter, and a raised seating area at the back where we sat that was a peaceful oasis. I did let the chap behind the bar how good it was to find a pub catering for both those who wanted the football and those who didn’t. | I have only been to this pub on a Thursday night when it is very busy. The kareoke is hilarious, some people take it seriously, some don't. It can get very crowded though. Beer is ok and reasonably priced, they do a nice pint of Everards Tiger in here. Recommended. bigscotty - 19 Apr 2008 10:41 |
