The dopey landlord/manager is on some sort of Basil Fawlty power trip, new rules every week and downright rudeness to the customers. It all seems a bit much for the little turd.If I was charging £4 a pint for very weak beer I think civility would be the order of the day,not here!

A few tired beers today,a back water pub which carries too many beers on handpump.

At last, Richmond has a decent real ale and cider pub. The Mitre is tucked away in a residential side street, but fairly close to North Sheen station. The drinks range is impressive - Marble Lagonda IPA, Summer Wine Diablo, 360 Degrees Mayflower, Wild Beer Co Bibble, Celt Experience Otherworld, Tickety Brew Double Hop Pale, Arbor Oz Bomb, Saltaire New World Red & Bad Co Dazed & Confused Milk Stout. Ciders and perries were Lilleys Gladiator, Apple & Blackberry & Bee Sting Perry, as well as Thistly Cross Whisky Cask. The bar is a small space and the decoration is quite plain. But this place will not get packed, due to its location, unless of course its reputation begins to grow (which it certainly deserves). Tasters are offered and there are also printed tasting notes at the corner of the bar. The landlord brought round small plates of roast potatoes that was a nice touch. There is also a patio area at the front with further seating. Whilst a fair way from Richmond town centre, I'll certainly be making every effort to persuade fellow drinkers to head here whenever in Richmond.

The Mitre is in a quiet part of North Sheen opposite a row of well kept Alm's Houses. It is a former Young's house,I remember it from many years ago from completing the 135 tour. They seem to be doing all the right things here, well selected ales including Marble's Lagonda etc Outside, it was a sunny day lots of street furniture. The only really silly thing was their Toasties Menu they list pepper, salt, tomato ketchup, brown sauce etc as menu items what is wrong with these people they are condiments and even in a 'spoons are brought out as part of the meal and without doubt expected to make an appearance, this looked so crass I was speechless, even as I type this i'm wondering wether I dreamt it.

Since being refurbished this pub has gone from strength to strength. A beautifully kept old fashioned boozer, Bob behind the bar will welcome you by offering you to try before buying any drink (wines and spirits aswell as beer) - something seldom seen these days. The gourmet toastie menu is unexpected but legendary, as is the well selected wine list.

I would not hesitate to recommend this pub to anyone cool enough to appreciate it. See you at the bar!
