| This is definitely a pub aimed at the Grantchester tourist business. More of a restaurant than a real pub. However the food was passable but not the best meal I have eaten and the beer was in reasonable condition. The Blue Ball or Green Man offer a better deal for the pub man. | In the heart of Grantchester this is more of a restaurant than a pub but to their credit they do serve Hardys Sussex bitter which is quite rare some GK beers which are not worth talking about.I have spoken to the Landlord and he said he will have more decent ales in the future.A place for eating I am told but I cant vouch for the quality on that one.Garden at the back and large carpark. Daily papers available to read whilst having a drink.Staff friendly and place not overtly packed. hogshead - 24 Feb 2008 15:49 |
| Recently visited the pub after a few years away. Was pleased with the changes that have been made and enjoyed a decent meal with a friend. Staff were attentive and the food was good. Eton mess was great. Well worth a visit. Will go again when in the area. epsomwinedrinker - 9 Nov 2007 08:47 |
| On a busy day in Grantchester - one of the few sunny days of summer 2007 - The Rupert Brooke was surprisingly empty. On the bar, it had Woodford Wherry and Sussex Best Bitter, the latter in excellent condition (the former, less so). We ate outside in a pleasant enough beer garden but the choice of smaller meals (baguettes, salad and chips) was very good. drtimthornton - 13 Aug 2007 10:50 |
| Had a lovely lunch there today. Brie and Bacon baguette was wonderful and nice thick chips. Relaxing atmosphere and generally friendly staff mean we'll definitely be back for dinner sometime. Web site showed a view of the river but I'd forgotten by binoculars and couldn't see it! Walked into Cambridge afterwards to work off the food - great location. smg - 9 Apr 2007 17:49 |
