There's too much going on, decoratively speaking, in this pub. Some of the walls have got flowery wallpaper, some are painted, there's all kinds of different light features from spray painted chandeliers to low hanging fittings and in the middle of the front bar there's a whacking great blackboard telling you what the specials are. It feels like you've walked into the studio of a particularly untidy art student. Worse still, my pint of Winter Warmer cost an exorbitant £3.47, when in arguably more well-heeled Putney it cost significantly less than that. A young and vaguely trendy air permeates this place but it hardly left a brilliant impression on me. I believe there are more traditional Youngs pubs in the area and these should be sought out in preference to this one. ChrisP87 - 21 Jan 2010 19:14
If the pub is even a little busy then the bar service falls right through the floor. It means you end up having to wait for 15 mins to get a drink. No comment about the food. Drinks are cold when you finally get them. The problem is not so much as the bar serving area is small, but the customers ordering drinks are bankers from the city trying to order fancy combinations of drinks. Wish they could just order a pint and be done with it! Dont get me wrong - it is an excellent location for a few afterwork drinks. It is a sanitised pub but still retains some of the pub feel so if you are looking for a pub to meet up for a quick drink give this one a chance. Just make sure you order 2 pints when you get served you wont get another chance for ages. mrloftysson - 5 Aug 2009 16:30
This is a Young’s house so you get the usual ales on offer – but they had Kew Gold, which I guess is a seasonal ale. I had a pint, and it was pretty good, but at £3.18 a pint it is 10p more expensive than the last pint I had in Ye White Hart at Barnes. The pub itself has been given the Young’s upmarket treatment – sofas, armchairs, high tables/stools and walls painted a winning combination of taupe and battleship grey. It’s a lot larger than it looks from the outside, and has a small area outside at the back for smokers; but when I was in it was full of mums, pushchairs and tots. They have some sort of colouring competition on the go. All the tables have coloured pens on them, plus paper so that you can draw a flower in the hope of winning a £25 bar tab. They even have the entries pinned on the wall in the back bar. Bizarre, but different. Anyway, the pub is OK if you like this sort of modernised and sanitised Young’s pub. It’s alright for a pint or two, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to visit again. RexRattus - 26 Jul 2009 12:31
I agree with the other remarks, music to loud, over priced drinks and rubbish food, the best location in earlfield would have to be The Leather Bottle [even if the drinks are still over priced] and the Puzzle, who have finally spent some money doing the garden and the women toilets [according to my girlfriend]. I only visited the leather bottle because of its garden and sport at the Puzzle. but i am finding myself at the Puzzle more and more, as the drinks are cheaper [even cheaper now during happy hour] and the service is better. i now miss the halfway house out completely!! hez - 20 Jul 2009 14:49
Far too loud and far too pricey for me. Seems to be a place for all the "bankers" who come back from the city in the evening. Would be much better if they turned the music down a bit .... well alot really. The Leather bottle seems to be going the same way. Struggling to find a decent ordinary local in Earlsfield; somewhere quiet and not full of braying 20/30 somethings. The Fog can be ok but if you're not a regular walking in can sometimes be like the Yorkshire pub scene in "American werewolf in London" HowardRoadRunner - 7 Jul 2009 14:21
