| Popped in last Friday night for a few drinks. Good atmosphere. A welcoming, local pub. Good menu too. uajamesh - 12 Sep 2008 18:06 |
| Wandered in for a few whilst watching the football on Saturday night. Could be wrong but I think its under relatively new management. Nice atmospohere, which is not always so at places showing live sport, so this has to be considered a bit of gem. Has a beautiful new barmaid too, which doesn't hurt. | Dropped by this lunchtime with some friends. Two slightly harrassed girls run the bar, take the food orders. Not all the table were taken were there was noone standing yet the feeling was that the pub was busy. We ordered food and it was very slow coming. 50/60 minutes for a burger; it wasn't worth the wait. Considering the Bird in Hand has the Havelock across the road and the Old Par's Head down the road it feels that they're not even trying to compete. However if you just want a drink - fine. Choice of Hoegaargen, Leffe, Staropramen on tap, bottled beers - otherwise the usual suspects. alastrp - 2 Mar 2007 15:35 |
| I love this pub. Great food, great bar staff and also a great atmosphere. You can't beat the chicken on a Sunday Mmmmm - 9 Nov 2006 18:23 |
| Really nice bar. I was pleasantly surprised. It was cosy, had a nice ambience, friendly staff and I really liked the use of (padded) church pews to create booth tables. Get with the programme. Gastro pubs are a reality and unlike Havlock, this pub takes debit/credit cards and is cheaper! tej868 - 11 Sep 2006 13:58 |
