Closed. Currently boarded up and for auction. Future uncertain. ridleyman - 8 Oct 2016 12:24 |
A welcoming sign on the fence stating that this pub is an official cycle stop made me feel at home before I even entered and I proceeded to chain my bike to the fence as suggested on the sign. Upon entering I wasn't disappointed. A good selection of ales on tap. I settled for Rocking Rudolph as it was only £2 a pint. The landlord even tasted a sample before serving, which increased my confidence that the ales are kept well under his stewardship. The Rudolph was certainly very nice. The old style toilets were also impressive. However, despite the comment below, this pub is a long way off being the best pub I have been to. I can only suggest that the previous reviewer has frequented few establishments. A good pub nonetheless Buster_M - 29 Jan 2013 17:43 |
The best pub ive ever been to. Excellent customer service and the food is amazing. I have been there 5 times in the past month. Definately recomend the sharing platter comprising of whitebait, prawns, mushrooms and garlic bread with 3 different sauces. Huge portion size and very good value for money. Will be visiting a lot more! Redwine100 - 16 Jan 2012 21:55 |
My girlfriend and I have had meals at this pub about 4 times over the last year and have always found the food to be great, with very generous size portions! The bar staff have always been very friendly and helpful. adpayne - 1 Dec 2010 12:05 |
Just heard about my mother's latest visit to this 'pub'. She went there with one of her elderly friends who ordered a pasta bake. He got served some dish that resemble pig swill (for those who need a definition: Swill is a mixture of solid and liquid food scraps fed to pigs, or any disgusting or distasteful liquid). It contained some baked potato scraps swimming in a some kind of watery sauce. And no sign of pasta. Initial conversations to the kitchen they got feedback "That's how it comes". Eventually they asked whether they wanted pasta with it. Doh!! Customer should have made it clear - "I'd like pasta with my pasta bake please." What ever next. Of course, by the time he would have been served his pasta dish (perhaps containing pasta) the others in the party would have finished their meals. And so he ate it. And shortly afterwards he was sick in the toilet. I guess the pig swill did not agree with him. Some of you will think I have it in for this pub. I haven't - I just hate these types of places that don't deserve to charge for their 'food'. If you must go, take your own lunch and stick to the drinks! oranjeboom - 1 Nov 2010 20:40 |
