Like Wetherspoons, only when i last went i couldn't go in because i was wearing trainers. No trainers? The Goose are going down the stupid dress code route like many naff nightclub chains, except they're a normal pub. reesyboy3 - 31 Jan 2008 21:12
For a busy town centre pub this is a great place to eat in the day and have a drink in the evening, it has changed a remarkable amount over the last 2 years, the food has got infinitely better there is no longer the trouble you used to see there on a regular basis and the prices are still the nest in Northampton. As for the previous comments about being ID'd at both door and bar, I suspect that you would be one of the first people to complain if you suspected the pub was serving under-agers. With police campaigns constantly trying to catch out pub operators with test purchases from under age customers and close them down (as recently occurred with the nearby Wedgewood) can you really blame these operators for being overly cautious? bertie79 - 4 Dec 2007 12:48
Cheap doubles keeps me going there although they always ID before entry and at the bar again. Too busy at weekends. Wilkinson - 3 Dec 2007 18:05
"Cheap as Chips" with some comfy booths, friendy staff n more than enough toilets! Why wouldn't ya pay it a visit? Nice - 21 Dec 2005 15:30
i go to goose quite a lot - it's good for a quick drink (or three) after work, lunch when you're out shopping and for meeting everyone in on a night out on the lash. i agree you couldn't stay there all night at the weekend, but in the week, three or four friends and I will quite happily curl up for an evening in one of the booths. the alcohols cheap, the foods pretty good and the staff are ok, if it a bit dull. jennaj - 11 May 2005 17:13
