A fine selection of draught ciders plus a perry.
We were going to eat here as the food looks good but were put off by the rather mediocre selection of mainly 'session strength' beers - the strongest was Spitfire at 4.5%. That's the sort of strength I start at and work my way up!
Odd opening hours - doesn't open until 6.30 in the evening. Go over to Goldies while you're waiting for this place to open, if you're thirsty.

Visited yesterday afternoon for the first time. A pleasant enough, if small, pub that was pretty busy with both diners and drinkers. Odd selection of ales available (Butcome, Tribute, London Pride, St Austell Trelawny) plus several ciders. The Butcome was in fine condition and reasonably priced.

Cracking pub with an excellent selection of beer on offer, very busy with eaters and drinkers but the bar staff were very prompt and efficient.

Came in here for lunch. Good service and around 4 ales on draught, as well as ciders and also 2 scrumpy ciders behind the bar. Food was not bad, but not great either. Friendly staff and a good location.

In here last Saturday about mid day and about half a dozen others in.
Two bars with one side set for diners. A few bar stools could be used though.
6 hand pulls split 3/3 on each side of the bar.
Only 2 ales on at the time Tim Taylors Landlord & Ringwood Best Bitter.
I try a pint of the latter which is ok and cost £3.40.
Some piped music is playing and the large plasma screen is showning the BBC News Channel (Corbyn's victory speech-sound turned down thank God!!)
In the GBG 2015.

The Quay was our first pub for a long weekend in Dorset. It was reasonably busy on Friday evening. There are 2 rooms and a pleasant garden at the rear. The front looks out over the river and the town's bridge. There is a pay and display car park there too. Service was friendly. Ales were Ringwood Best, Timothy Taylor Landlord & Isle of Purbeck Studland Bay Wrecked. There were also 2 ciders from the Purbeck Cider Company - Dorset Dabinett & Joe's Dry. We enjoyed a nice meal whereby you cook your own steak, prawns or chicken on hot stones.

Ignore the low rating for this pub. Since becoming a Brewhouse & Kitchen it must have improved massively. The beers brewed on the premises plus guests from others in the chain are of high standard and the food is pretty good too. Not the most atmospheric of places but certainly worth a visit.

Large pub near the South station that has clearly had some serous money spent on it recently. On-site brewery. Several of their own beers on offer - the Judge Jefferies that I had 2 pints of was very good. Pretty busy both inside and the outside seating area. Worth visiting.

Absolutely superb Sunday lunch. The beers brewed on the premises are excellent. If South West Trains offer another £15 travel deal we'll be back.

Although I travel round a fair bit I have not visited this pub but you will see from some of my previous postings that my opinion of Doom Bar is similar to Cellarboy, Colmc and Mark888. Since the Coors takeover of Sharps the standard of Doom Bar has gone downhill markedly but it seems to be even more available countrywide than the dreaded Greene King IPA. Tastebuds of the UK should unite in protest!

I too agree with Mark888. Doombar is really pissy stuff since Coors took it over (the bottles stuff isnt even brewed in Cornwall anymore).
Spartan needs to sort himself out

I can only agree with Mark888 why waste your thirst drinking the sweet bland Doombar when there are so many fantastic small brewers beers available.
Sparton seems to think that he is the only one entitled to an opinion which in my book makes him the bigot and of his 4 previous comments 3 are negative, very sad man indeed.

A good refurbishment inside and a bit of work currently happening outside, Marstons Ringwood Best in good nick (who knows where it's brewed, just heard Ringwood has been brewing Thwaites!). Still plenty of signs to inform motorists about the car park.

In regards to previous comment, I received a parking ticket during a visit to the George, so I took my ticket back and the manager kindly called the company and cancelled the charge for me.
On my return I checked out the car park and there is a large amount of signage explaining the car park is pay and display, with a refund of your ticket when making a purchase in the pub. And I was also told that all customers for the pub can input their reg on a screen behind the bar to negate the need to buy a ticket.

The staff were incredibly polite and helpful, and i dont see how a parking charge sent to someone who it seems didn't actually use the pub (since they were picking up a relative) would be a valid reason to slag off such a nice pub online. Perhaps the complainant could have got in touch with the pub politely to see if there was anything they could Do. Which they would have judging by my experience.

I can understand the previous poster's anger. However (as a non-driver, even I'm aware of this) had they let the staff know they had parked they would have been directed to a machine in which they could have entered the car registration number to avoid a fine.

Pleasant pub, handy for bus and train stations, usual range of Marston's ales, can get busy when Poole Town FC and/or speedway and/or something on at The Lighthouse Arts Centre.

Bit worried about 2 so overpowering reviews a couple of days apart.
Yes - it's got a good selection of ales and they're well kept.
Yes - the owner is very knowledgeable.
It's quite small.
On the two occasions I've been there only 2 or 3 others in there.
Please visit and decide for yourself.

Without a doubt, the best pub I have ever been in. The range of beers I have had here is incredible. From gorgeously hoppy ipa's to dark porters and everything in between, there is something for every discerning beer drinker. The staff are very friendly and the pub decor holds your attention and seems to change from visit to visit. Ciders? Well I didn't know there were that many different ciders. Good, live music and this pub is laid out in such a way that a new conversation is just by the side of you or only a step away. Walking through the pub, you get a sense that it has been here for many years and viewing the blue, bearded genie through the windows of his cellar, preparing firkins and serving glorious pints to chatting with the lovely bar staff you would hope that it continues on. This is a good candidate for the 'good pub guide' and a must if you happen to be looking for a decent pub in the south of Englang.

Can't believe this place hasn't been reviewed on here. I was in after watching my team, Boro, get beat at Dean Court. Fantastic selection of real ale, great snacks, superb staff and some very reasonable Bournemouth fans to have a chat to. This place is far too good for Premiership fans next season!
