please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Looks like its closed again, and looking pretty scruffy outside nowdays too, couple of skips outside today when I drove past, but don't know if the rubbish inside them came from the Pub. How very sad all round........

I agree with pubperson, this Pub has had so many different Landlords lately, and sadly none of them just didn't have a clue how to run it. The Pub is becoming another building destined to be a block of flats soon, which is a shame, but it seems to be the way a lot of Pubs in Swansea are going nowdays........

Don't know whats happening with this pub at the mo.

Its changed hands so many times in recent years, with the recent landlords being of pretty low calibre, I don't think there's a place for it any more.

Sadly I don't think there#ll be a pub on this site much longer.

Currently open, and fully up and running, but every time I've gone past, seems to be very quiet in the afternoon / early evening. So don't know if it gets busy at night. Might call in one late evening see what its like nowdays.......

Re-opening in 10 Days, so the banner outside said today, looks like the place has had a complete makeover. Hopefully it will be busy once again.......

Currently surrounded by loads of scaffolding, and it looks like the inside is being completely refurbished too. Lots of work going on, both in and around this Pub nowdays. Lets hope the new owners / licensee can make a go of this place when it does re-open then. Be nice to see it busy again, methinks.......

Drove past today ( Bank Holiday Monday ) about 2pm, and it was indeed closed again. Looks like its going to be shut for a while too, as Punch Taverns say they will be spending about 60,000 to re-furbish the place. THEN, hoping for a new tenant / landlord to come in and run the business. Good Luck to them I think, can't imagine anyone would want to try and become the new tenant here, with the Pub trade in such a mess.......

Well, if this place does close again ( and I wouldn't be suprised at that ) There will be 3 Pubs ( Bar Reef and The Tenby being the other 2 ) within a 100 Yards of each other shut down, and no prospect of opening again soon by the look of it. Could be a lot of apartments built in this area of Swansea soon !!!.....
DuncanDisorderly - 10 May 2010 22:09
Have heard The George is about to close "again"having walked in and immediately left on a few occasions in the last few months .I cant say I,m surprised, A sign for an open day will certainly not bring any of the regular customers in, It needs people at the helm to make us George lovers feel welcome. And that takes people who actually want to be there and enjoy being there. Few and far between I think. Wouldn,t be surprised to see apartments there soon. Shame.
foodiefads - 9 May 2010 22:53
Just noticed they are advertising an " Open Day " here soon, or so the banner outside says. Wonder if that is a desperate attempt to get some more customers into the place, or a cunning plan to sell the place ASAP !!!!.......
DuncanDisorderly - 8 May 2010 22:54
We also called in here Sunday lunchtime, having been regulars when the previous couple were here. Having not been here for a few months due to hols we were shocked and dissapointed to hear they had left, we certainly didnt stay for lunch as there didnt seem to be any atmosphere (2 people) sad to see the place obviously going back to how it was a few years ago. SAD.
foodiefads - 8 Feb 2010 14:42
We walked in here today at about 1:30 pm ( Sunday )...and promptly walked straight back out. Not another person in the place. No music, no atmosphere, no customers. Great if you like a VERY quiet Pub I suppose........
DuncanDisorderly - 7 Feb 2010 22:54
Up and running again at the moment, but has very little trade going through the doors. Looks quite depressing and dark in there now in fact. Seems like the new people are not going out of their way to encourage people to visit their Pub nowdays.......
DuncanDisorderly - 1 Dec 2009 22:32
Drove past here recently, and saw it was still closed, probably been a week or longer now, so I would have though the previous customers would have found somewhere else to drink / eat by now. Also saw a blackboard in the window saying it was re-opening " Under new Management " on the 17th of November. They have a hard act to follow in my opinion, but good luck to them. Time will tell I suppose......
DuncanDisorderly - 16 Nov 2009 23:03
Yes, the comment below is very sad news indeed, but is explains why the place was closed on Tuesday ( 10th ) afternoon when we called up for some lunch, and we had a funny feeling something was wrong, as the windows looked a bit bare. I cannot praise their standards high enough either, in both food, customer service, and just general atmosphere all round. They will be sadly missed by a lot of their customers and friends, and I also wish them good luck for the future.......
DuncanDisorderly - 11 Nov 2009 16:34
Very sad to hear the licensees have just left - such a pity as they really bought some high standards and excellent food to this place.

I hear there's a 21 year old taking over. I could be wrong, but it means I unfortunately don't hold out much hope for the place in the foreseeable future - another kidz pub with loud music looms...

All the best in your next venture Mike and Vanessa - you will be missed.

Rather quiet last time we called in here on a Thursday afternoon, but it was a wet, wild and windy Day outside. Food was superb again though. Hopefully the place is busier normally. Really nice Pub indeed.......
DuncanDisorderly - 10 Aug 2009 00:28
Yes, I totally agree with the comment below, what a transformation of a Pub, we called in here last week and noticed the decor had changed completely, and the daily " specials " were now on clear display behind the Bar. So, as there were 6 of us, we all ordered something different, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal, and loved the atmosphere there too. We will certainly be going back here a lot more. In fact, I think it will be the ONLY place we eat nowdays. Congratulations to the Landlord and Landlady, you are doing a brilliant job indeed........
DuncanDisorderly - 29 Apr 2009 22:12
This place is improving all the time. The landlord has redecorated the place really tastefully, and the food is superb - far and away the best pub food in this area. Trade seems to be picking up in the evening too, meaning the atmosphere is getting better. Excellent Sunday lunches, accompanied by live acoustic jazz in the background - lovely. One suggestion though - get rid of those grotty old television sets!
betterpubsforswansea - 29 Apr 2009 12:12
What a lovely Pub this is nowdays, really pleasant to just pop in for a drink and relax, or have something to eat with friends, as the food is superb indeed. Certainly one of the best places to visit in Swansea at the moment. The new owners are doing a wonderful job here all round, and deserve our support. Lets not let them down folks, pop in and say hello, I'm sure you will like it there......
DuncanDisorderly - 22 Mar 2009 22:26
Agreed. I've been in here a couple of times recently, and the new landlords seem to have high standards, both in terms of behaviour and clientele, which is very encouraging in this particular area. Its very warm, a lot cleaner than it was and they (the landlords) themselves seem very welcoming. My one criticism would be that they really do need to expand the range of beers they offer, especially keeping in mind of the clientele they want to attract. A few real ales and premium lagers (something like Leffe, Staropramen etc) would complete this pub.

About 10 of us called in here on Xmas Eve afternoon, and the place was buzzing again, great to see actually. Live Band playing, everybody seemed to be enjoying themselves, and a great atmosphere too. we stayed a LOT longer than we thought, and the Pub was still busy at about 10pm, which is unusual on Xmas Eve, as most places are dead then, and some even close early. Not here though. Looks like the new people have made a great start, and good luck to them too.....
DuncanDisorderly - 27 Dec 2008 19:19
Just re-opened ( again ) with new people at the helm, who seem to have tidied the place up a lot. We called in here today, and saw a marked improvement all round. Live music now playing a big part in the attempt to get the crowds back into this Pub. Very pleasant atmosphere in here too. Good Luck to them.......
DuncanDisorderly - 7 Nov 2008 16:11
Another major casualty in the rapid closure of Pubs in Swansea at the moment,I'm afraid....Wonder how many more will suffer the same fate soon. What a sad state of of affairs indeed......BUT, there are new people trying to re-open this place soon......Good Luck to them.....
DuncanDisorderly - 2 Aug 2008 21:33
Now this was a bit of an eye opener for us this Saturday, in as much that we used to call in here a lot and it was a nice, clean, well run Pub for Years, and had a great atmosphere on a Saturday, with all the Sport you could wish for being shown on many screens, and the place was really busy. Not any more.....It was full( wrong wording )of pissed idiots, some of whom were sleeping in their seats, and there was no sign of any sport on T.V. either. Landlady / Bar Staff standing at the end of the Bar smoking, just about summed it up really. Not a nice place to go anymore.

Nice little pub. Does a decent pint of Worthington's (the decent hand pumped real ale, not the terrible smooth keg stuff you usually get), a quiz night, and is open late on Fridays and Saturdays.
Crow_Valley - 4 Jun 2006 23:07
This pub has recently changed hands FOR THE WORST.
The riff raff that HAD been barred is now back with a vengence.
The beer prices have also sky rocketed along with the noise level of the karaoke nights with no concern for the residents of the area.
The food remains sub par and the atmosphere tense.
Not worth a look in.

a chilled out pub serving great home cooked food, friendly efficient staff too!
