Re Opened as "THE PRINCE OF WALES"

Food is indeed excellent, but your wallet will feel a lot lighter. And the banoffee pie is definitely very popular - one member of our party got the last one and caused a bit of friction amongst the women...

Service was good, although I almost punched the waiter who insisted on attempting friendly banter every 10 mins. Then I realised that it was better than someone being as grumpy as I was evidently being.

Definitely a rah haven on Sundays, but actually the atmosphere was quite pleasant.

Recommended.

This is a solid pub. I have been there maybe a dozen times now and never been disappointed. The staff are friendly, the food fantastic (particularly good Sunday roast) and the atmosphere pretty chilled. It does get busy on a Sunday, so it pays to book if you want to eat. Yes there can be quite a few "Rahs" but they are pleasant overall.

Oh, and I agree entirely with The Claw's comments below; The banoffee pie is indescribable. Apparently people phone ahead to check there is some left!

I visited the Settle Inn on Sunday 24th September and was not impressed. My girlfriend and I sat down at a table and were reviewing the menu when a member of the staff approached us and advised us that the table "had just been reserved". I told her it certainly had, we'd been sat there for five minutes! (There was no sign to indicate that it had been reserved when we sat down). However we were told that we'd have to find another table. I pushed the point that it was pretty poor to move people for no other reason than the pub wanted someone else (who wasn't even present)to sit there. However, she seemed not to understand/care. We left. The fact that I feel the need to add that we are "not tramps" or messily dressed should give an indication of how we felt we'd been treated. Enjoyable Sunday lunch? I think not!

The pub's decor is very nice but I have since found other people who have been treated pretty poorly there too, so I'd recommend any of the pubs nearby or better still, head over the river or to Lavender Hill/Northcote Road.

Had a really good time with my girlfriend earlier in the month, met the manager who bent over backwards to make sure we got a table, drinks, etc.

Very cosy pub with a good atmosphere, made frinds with strangers and had some fantastic grub (Check out the 'self carve' roast chicken with all the trimmings! Deeelish...) can't recommend it enough.

It is popular with the posh just because it's the best pub in a crap location.

Try it...

Agree with the comment below about the arrogant public school types when it's busy, but that's to be expected.

Food is excellent though and, without sounding too much like a girl, the home made banofee pie is incredible.

Avoid like the plague on a Sunday as that's when it's at the peak of 'Rahness'.

This is a great pub if you are one of the following: Hockey Player, Rugby Player, Antipodean, Public-School Type... I have had a beer in there a couple of times and when the pub is not full of the above, it is a nice, friendly place with decent food. When it is full of 'them', it is a noisy, arrogant, unfriendly place... and the bar staff ignore anyone they don't know in favour of their close 'chums'... shame really, could have been great.

Good beer and extensive wine list. Chef must be new as food is even better of late.

Great for public school types and upturned rugby shirts. Food ok - manager - friendly bar staff - not very attentive

The Settle Inn is one of the best pubs in London - friendly staff, good food, and busy but never bursting... a great place to meet, or to hang out.

Nice pub with great outside area, unfortuntely have not been for a year or so as children are not allowed in the beer garden. Great fire place and excellant food.
