Because Babies and kids are starting to ruin most UK pubs every Saturday and Sunday lunchtime, for the average punter, who just wants a few pints in peace!

Whereas dogs are glorious animals who can behave themselves!

How can you have a sunday lunch that welcomes dogs but not kids? Nice ale and food though.

Visited here a few weeks ago after a long walk. Loads of well kept ales to keep you occupied and staff offered a warm welcome. Menu looked good too - I'll be returning to give it a try.

The recently fully refurbished White Lion offers a superb selection of constantly chaging real ales. All are well kept and no self respecting beer lover should pass this place by! Good menu offered Tuesday to Sunday up to 9pm. On one Saturday of each month there is a guest artiste. The pub runs a good fun pub quiz every Thursday night with cash prizes and jackpot.

As well as the real ales noticed the pub also sells Leffe and Staropramen on draught. A glance through the small but well chosen wine list will, I think, please the discerning diner.

Further to my last posting, the food is good and the service excellent.

The White Lion now has a great selection of real ales and on our visit all those sampled were well kept. The menu looked interesting and reasonably priced but unfortunately we visited on a Monday night when the kitchen was closed (it's open Tue to Sun). The place has had a recent refurb and has a comfortable, airy feel. There's a large window at the rear of the pub with good views over the hills behind. Background music was kept low and the place had a nice, relaxed atmosphere. The staff were very friendly and when I commented that I'd just heard one of my favourite tunes played the person at the bar (Landlord?) gave me the CD! Will certainly be returning to sample more beers and the food.
