please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

This pub is now closed and is being demolished and 2 houses will replace it, just like the pub close by.

Lived neary by 1979-83. Loved the gang there, especially Pauline (R.I.P) and Wally. I am back in the US now and so miss Sunday sessions.

I've been going to this pub for about 35 years. Every Boxing day before the King George, if nothing else. It's always been comfortably run-down and friendly.

Called in Jan 15th (delayed King George from Boxing Day) and that's changed now. New management (Alison) in August 2010, apparently, and it's been done up (in a kind of 'Ikea Pine' style) and it's still friendly.

Popped in to this community local, and found a new licensee and pub nicely refurbished. Real ales in good condition included Hook Norton Hooky Dark and Brakspear Bitter. Worth a visit

oh my god how sad is that fella to actually go on here on boxing day and post that comment about this pub. lmao!!

i was there on boxing day after kempton racing and it was a good atmosphere.

i ask one of the bar staff about why there was no chairs on one side of the pub and they said it was coz it gets busy with locals and people from kempton racing on boxing day so they had taken out to make space as the pub is quite small.

i got served very quickly even thou it was busy, and it was a warm pub. i went to 2 pubs down the river in sunbury on boxing day aswell who were far more expensive than this one! i definatly preferred this pub, cheaper and the bar staff were much nicer.

Unbelievable how a pub in such a decent location could be so grossly unfit for purpose. I've seen scout huts with more ambience, better decor and a good deal more furniture. Devoid of charm, this is a place for utility drinking.
But what really annoyed me was how such a dog of a pub can justify 3.10 for a pint of London Pride. Presumably the management thinks it can fleece the (mug)punters who pass by on their way to the big Boxing Day meeting at Kempton Park because chances are they won't be returning. How right they are.

Oh my lord! I do not know what to say. This could be miles better. The staff were friendly but it was like walking into an episode of shameless. The decor is mental and it smells like a loo. The place could be thriving as its got a good location. it needs a lift and some organised seating thats for sure.

Never been in this pub despite being in the area for years

Gave it a go for the first time recently- on the plus side, the staff were very friendly, and I had a very nice pint.

On the negatives, on a not that hot a day, it is off putting when fat male chavs with tattoos sit with their shirts off in the pub. Not the pubs fault though.

Overall, wouldn't be top of my list for Sunbury pubs, but was allright.

New management in this pub have seen more organised event nights which have certainly helped it along.

It can be a little quiet sometimes but can also be very busy when a night is arranged well.

The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, particularly the daytime Bar Manager who is exceptionally good looking, funny and a little mental..

Got invited to this pub on saturday nite 4th oct 08 and had an absolutely crackin' time. I understand its been recently taken over and owner and staff are nice people. They had a karaoke on and almost everyone sang and those that didn't were singing from their seats and anyone else seemed to be dancing even the landlady sang!, saw so many people i hadn't seen since school days, don't know when karaoke is on next but the venue was brill, will definately go back

I have been advised not to go in there by a local as you should know half the pub first. Apparantly most seats are allocated to the locals. Do they buy enough bee to pay for the profits?

What can i say - full of crack heads is probably the best way to describe it and ugly ugly scottish persons!!!

I have been going in here on and off, for years and years and can say that the pub went right down hill after Pauline (RIP) Left. But Wayne is getting together again, bit by bit. Friendly Staff and always someone to talk to. Morrissey should not be put off by his perceptions, I also wear a shirt & tie to work, and never had any problems in here. the locals don't care what you wear, they'll drink with anyone ;-)

P.S.
I'll have a pint of whatever 'Anonymous' of 23rd Aug 2006 was drinking, as there is certainly no pool table in there!! (there would be enough room anyway)

This truly is the pits.

Typical drinkers include builders who it wouldnt surprise me to find were both working on the pub and drinking in it at the same time. Various threatening types peruse the beer garden out front staring at anyone unfamilair who is dressed in a suit. Drank here once so maybe I am being unfair.

Ironically I would avoid it if I were a 'jockey' (knob jockey), I don't think you'd be welcomed with open arms.

not bad boozzer - pool tables, nice drink!

The Miller Revolution has begun...

Those of you know the Jockey of old may have shyed away in the past due to various 'take over' bids. All of which have failed at the first or very best, second fence.

Now the MR has begun, expect some big changes and the Jockey to be a place to go... for both a quiet beer and a lively weekend.

If you fancy something other than an early beer on a Sunday, check out the fixture list and come watch the Jockey Reingers play a match. Loads of support followed by mass drinking in the avo onwards.

This IS where it's going to be for the summer of 2006 onwards

Went to this pub for the first time a few weeks back. Small like everyone says but that makes it a far more friendly and comfortable atmosphere.
Great people, great music and great lamb chops!!!!!

This pub is so small you could'nt swing a cat in it, but who wants to swing a cat!! What this pub lacks because of its size is compensated with great staff and a friendly atmosphere. The pub or area could'nt wish for better owners. Wayne the barman is exceptional (he can actually serve 5 people at once and do bar tricks at the same time!) If you want good service and a good laugh with your pint this is the pub to visit.

A decent Pub with new owners. Very small but a very friendly pub with some real character about it. Usual selection of beers and lagers but the main thing about this pub is the atmosphere. I've never had a bad night in there since the new owners have taken it on.
