This pub is flawless. It has kept the olde decor, lots of wood inside, and retains at least a couple of real ale on tap that regularly rotate. A lovely beer garden to boot. Yet it is modern; a down-to-earth but hip clientele, and a Mediterranean menu that has the best pub food I've ever had. The staff are pleasant and very attentive.

I was excited by the idea of another gastropub in the area. However, a Sunday evening visit left me extremely disappointed.
The service was poor and the starter came at the same time as the mains. In addition, my roast salmon was completely inedible - moderately warm and the texture of wet cardboard. The puy lentil salad that came with it was lovely, but after paying £14 for the main, I was completely dissatisfied.
My advice: if you want a great gastropub in the area try The Grove or The Anglesea. Both are consistently top notch.

Have visited a few times for an evening drink, but decided to try it for Sunday lunch. Surprisingly quiet, so no problem getting a table. Service was good (although it was quiet) and the food was excellent, if at the usual inflated gastro pub prices.

Have been for lunch and dinner. Food mostly good, though service can be slow. Nice garden.

Having last visited the Darthmouth Castle nearly three years ago and pre-revamp, I was very disappointed upon my recent return to see what had been done to it. I couldn't fault the staff, but the choice of beer was poor, and the modernisation painful to see. What a shame as it did used to be a nice pub.

Recently has become my local. The food is delicious, they have two ales on tap which pleases my boyfriend, and I personally love the variety of wines on the list. What really impressed me though was the service, while they say order at the bar, the bar-tenders go out of their way to help and are so friendly that they make you feel at home.

Had a few decent meals here, though service can be a bit iffy at times.

Popped in for an impromptu beer late afternoon. Deuchars also on tap & OK. They didn't seem to have any brandy!!??

Someone should tell these people that a sandwich has two pieces of bread.

Has been heavily revamped but not ruined. Only one ale on tap: London Pride, which was certainly at least drinkable. No, it isn't the traditional pub it was, and unlike the Stonemasons Arms down the road, in its previous incarnation it wasn't that bad, but it could definitely be worse in its new form. Certainly an improvement on many dire Broadway and eastern-end-of-King-Street pubs.

I often bemoan the renovation of pubs into soulless bars, but the change in the Dartmouth is to be welcomed.
Previously the undrinkable beer was matched only by the strange regulars in terms of reasons not to visit, now however the pub has become one of the best places in Hammersmith – I accept the competitions not stiff!
The food is now good, with fair portions and some inventive dishes (its not cheap however). The beer is always drinkable and the staff friendly. If you’re arranging a drink with friends in Hammersmith I’d say the Dartmouth is about your best option.

I drank here a few years back in it's previous incarnation and it was a nice little pub off the main King Street drag, the only danger being it was far too easy to end up in that god-awful hell-hole Secrets across the road.
Having been back several times since reopening, I would recommend it to anyone who fancies a bit of a chill-out and a fantastic, reasonably priced meal.

I miss the Old Darty :(

It's a shame this place has been re-invented as a gastro-pub as previously it was a nice, traditional pub. Now, however, I will be avoiding it, it's a shame to see good, proper pubs being transformed and "modernised".

Never went there previously, but the new version is very nice. Has nice ambience, staff very friendly (and attractive!), food is excellent. The upstairs part is very convivial, I believe they're thinking of having some acoustic nights, which is nice. I agree it's getting harder to find the 'traditional' pub but this one is one of the nicer gastro variety.

Previously a traditional affair - cheap and easy with a plentiful array of TV's for the footy. One of the best in the area for watching a game. However, as a fan of good clean pubs too, this is a very good example with, now that they are more settled, excellent food, fine presentation and very welcoming staff. Upstairs is also great for parties upto about 50 (or 25 seated) I reckon.
Perhaps my fellows and I will persuade to sort out a big screen upstairs in good time for the world cup?

Great pub, perfect British style. Great food and friendly staff. The most part of customers used to be English, locals. There is also an area outside with tables and chairs, lovely for the spring. Unfortunately now the land-lord moved to Australia and the pub is being renewed in a more modern style, losing its charm and style, in my personal opinion.

Love this pub, its got charm, character, fantastic food (steak and guiness and or bacon baguettes were my favourite)and great, efficient staff. The landlord and his wife, last time I was in, were Dennis and Cleo, always made everyone very welcome.
|
Old style boisterous, boozy, blokey British boozer. Football on the TV, Aussie staff, real ales and a cracker of a Sunday Roast.
|
Great food (esp the Steak and Guinness pie) at good prices, check out the specials board for more choice than the rather limited menu though. Staff are friendly and service is pretty good.
|
Not the greatest pub ever but worth stopping for a drink if you're around Hammersmith.
|
Friendly little pub untouched by corporate modernisation - one of the very few around there that you can say that about - and it does a good-value Sunday roast as well.
|
Nice pub, friendly landlord, can get taken over by foregin students form the english language school and gets very busy.

Not a bad pub at all, nice place to go for a drink (and there aren't too many of them around Hammersmith). If you're in Hammersmith, pay it a visit.

Cosy little street corner boozer. Always a real mix of customers, always good service, and always a decent pint. The best pub in the centre of Hammersmith by a mile (or two.)
