What a pub! What a pub! A lot of good memories about this place..me and my old friend Neil (best cashier ever!!) Barry - my manager at the time and Praveen, we used to drink a lot there when we worked together for the Ladbrokes nearby! Many birds and happy days! Very good food, always a cold pint served with love! The best crew behind the wheel and good atmosphere...full of frindly people! Top quality pub, good memories! Cheers to The Swan! Steve Mansell, ex-cashier at Ladbrokes Hanworth brunch.

Went passed here yesterday (19/7/17) and this place is now part demolished.
It is just the bit that was the Lounge Bar the rest is still standing--strange???

And to follow on from the last comment, this too has closed down and there are now no pubs at all in Hanworth.

This will be the last pub in Hanworth after the last one, Horse and Groom, became a Tesco. I wonder if Milhouse (below) noticed if there were any real ales on in the Swan?

The local plod have finally called time on this centre of " community activity". Yes folks they've closed it down & the regular patrons will have to find somewhere else to wet their whistles whilst comparing notes on benefit fraud & other assorted criminality.Good riddance I hear the decent, God fearing residents of Hanworth cry!

Mine hostess must be a tough old bird indeed.Eventually she might introduce real ale festivals, folk evenings & community theatre.Guardian readers will sit mulling over a pint of old scrotum on a Sunday afternoon without fear of attack. An up & coming chef will introduce a menu with gastro pub pretensions sparking an influx of middle class families to the area.hanworth will become a gentrified albeit slightly bohemian offshoot of Hampton with pressure from residents to be transfered from Hounslow Council to Richmond.Property prices will soar.Educational standards in the local primary schools will rise.I could go on & on but you get the picture.A miracle indeed.

The local press reports that the manager has been arrested & remanded in custody by Feltham magistrates.Allegedly the local constabulary discovered a number of mail bags full of letters & parcels. It could be that the boys in blue have made a terrible mistake & that the locals have been collecting toys to distribute among the disadvantaged children in the community. We can but hope.

horrible pub!! full stop

Its like a magnet for some very undesirable people!!!
T_Burne - 20 Apr 2010 21:12
Keep this kind of pub open please. I don't want the fall-out migration in my pub's direction. Like the Crown and Sceptre in Feltham closing, some of its 'orphaned' undesirables are wandering and are a bit close for comfort. Thanks.

I have lived in Haworth my entire life but I would never even dare step foot in the swan! It has potential and I mean no disrespect the staff, owners or the venue! Its simply the punters that turn me away! I know of a lot of the regulars in there and I could imagine it difficult to find someone who has not got a criminal record or had some sort of relations with a direct family member!

Ahh the swan! Having worked in the building next door for 8 years the Swan was like a 2nd home to all our office staff, we'd spend lunch times here playing pool, evenings after work getting drunk.
Yes it's grotty, the toilets are horrific, the glasses are dirty and it's often full of criminals but it was always a good laugh, the locals were always friendly the bar manager's always got to know us well, and we had some cracking times in there.
justaquickpint - 21 Jan 2010 16:39
Sorry, I forgot the Horse & Groom - an even worse pub, if you can imagine it!

How on earth can this shit-hole of a pub continue trading? This has to be one of the roughest pubs on the planet. Go elsewhere for God's sake.
BillJ - 4 Nov 2009 23:24
Quite frankly, both pubs in Hanworth, the swan and horse and groom are diabolical places, attracting diabolical clientele, though, Hanworth in general does contain a vast majority of low grade poor people whom continue to breed generations of the same type of person, really deprived people, very few work, with the majority claiming benefits and contained in one of hanworths many council estates.
Hanworth used to be a lovely place, however, since the development of the council estates in the 1960's the place has gone totally down hill.
Over run with low grade wrongens

Great pub now. Rick, the new manager is a smashing guy and knows how to run a tight shift. Really good atmosphere now especially when footie is on. Good to see hanworths no.1 pub returning to its loyal customers. Thank you Rick

i am over 21 so had no problems with getting a flat pint of lager!!! the miserable bar staff did change it, after some stern looks. i didn't dare try the food but another punter further up the jump had some sort of lasagne & it looked ok.

not very inviting or friendly but has everything you need for a local. it just doesn't work fully on any level - shame

4.5/10

This place sucks. over 21s who fight every other night and the beer is shite! The last manager had a good go turning it around, sold some quality food but even he left.

As sharpe says -

I went in there after work and they ID'd me, after finding out I was 20 told me to finish my pint and leave, a no under 21's policy? and the thing I did wrong was just going in for quiet drink?
