Sort out as its a previously unclaimed tick in the 2017 GBG.

Well worth it. Packed at midday on a Sunday and still they kept coming in.

Converted house, so small rooms with crammed together tables. Tiny bar, with a chalkboard above detailing the half a dozen ales.

I would have had a Wetheroak Tillermans Tipple but the bar lady wasn''t happy with the quality on pouring. Now, thats a nice change!

Instead, I had possibly the finest Wye Valley Butty Bach ever had. And I''ve had a few!

I'm sure it's lovely but... doesn't open until 7, and no-one answers the phone if you try and ring beforehand to book a table, even though there was clearly a staff member inside sitting at a table. We went down the canal to the Crown instead.

Called in late September while walking along the canal towpath. We'd been warned by locals at the 'Crown', a bit further along the canal, that the 'Weighbridge' closed at 3 p.m., so we'd altered our itinerary slightly to get there in time. Plenty of choice of real ale at the small bar. Although they don't really serve food (or at least not on certain days), they did have some pre-packed sandwiches available.

Interesting 3 roomed pub (with additional outside seating under cover with heater) that is a part of the marina and less than 5 minutes from the station. 6 handpumps 1 x cider and 5 interesting beers kept in good nick. Reasonably priced food menu and, in addition, locally made pork pies!. Does get very busy so you are advised to reserve a table if intending to eat.

Slightly restricted opening hours, 1200 - 1500 and 1900 to 2300 (2230 on Sunday) with no food on Monday - wednesday.

Well worth a visit.

Stumbled on this pub on the advice of "uglyduck32". I reckon they didn't go far enough to extol the brilliance of this canal-side nugget.

Just nipped in for a quick drink, to find an excellent range of ales, excellent value, the best crisps on earth, and will definitely be back to examine the mouthwatering described pork pie & sauce.

What a gem. Just for the surroundings, and the service, a big 9..

Pleasant pub with plenty of real ales and a canal nearby. Guvnor is knowledgeable and the pub is rightly popular with canal-boating people.

We have visited this quaint canal side pub on several occasions, and i have to say it is one of the nicest pubs i've been to. It has 3 really cosy rooms full of interesting nick-nacks & memorabilia, we notice something new each time we visit! The real ale is 5 stars according to my husband (who is quite fussy), and he was given all the information he needed on each beer from the landlord. we decided to have sunday lunch on our last visit which i have to say was fantastic, we counted a total of 9 fresh vegetables on our dinner, and it was really fresh and tasty, a good sign of a true home cooked meal. The staff were very friendly, both from the bar & kitchen, and even struck up conversation with us which you do not get in most pubs. I also like this place as you do not feel rushed out as i find in other pubs when they want a quick turn over. So all in all i recommend you give it a try!!

Fantastic pub, very friendly and, most importantly, excellent quality of ale. I've only eaten here once and it was nice food. Great beer festivals twice a year too in May and September.

Never too happy with this pub. Short opening times, very cliquey and the staff a little "cold". No dogs allowed - its a country pub?

Canalside pub with 5 real ales and a real cider. Kinver Bargees Bitter, Teme Valley Talbot Porter, Cottage Windsor Castle Ale, Weatheroak Tillerman's Tipple & Hobsons Mild were the ales. Westons Vintage Organic was the cider. The pub has 3 small rooms. One contains the bar and another is set out for dining. We sat in the 3rd room which has plenty of barge pictures on the walls. A marquee was still outside from a beer festival held last weekend. Definitely one to recommend.

This is a truly splendid establishment, which marked the start of a 7-day narrowboat holiday comprising 8 people, lots of fun and an average of 8 pints apiece per day as we meandered our way around some of the Midlands' better boozers courtesy of the canal.
Pitching up here was sheer convenience given its close proximity to the boatyard from which we were embarking upon our trip, but it just so happened that it would've deserved considerable attention anyway, as it is a classic, no-nonsense, friendly local beerhouse which merits a strong place in the new Beer Guide, serving as it does a range of 4 interesting local ales and 2 ciders. The excellent Kinver and Wetheroak were amongst the breweries represented on our visit - which needless to say was repeated upon our arrival back at Alvechurch the following Friday!
The landlord was a very friendly cove and dealt with all our shenanigans very well. Service was superb, and always pleasant. This was especially commendable given the strain they were under last Friday - it is a multi-roomed pub with outdoor space too but it was almost impossible to find seats. It seems boaters and locals alike relish their opportunity to get to the Weighbridge and sink some quality ale, possibly accompanied by some similarly worthy food which some of us sampled the previous week.

This one was the first of many for us, but it was only "beaten" as it were by a couple of others discovered later and certainly was deserving of a Top 3 berth out of the 25 or so pubs we visited. Well done folks; it's almost worth taking another trip from the Marina to provide an excuse for getting back!

What a great pub! It well deserves the title of CAMRA PUB OF THE YEAR 2009/10.
An excellent choice of four Locale beers at good prices, plus real cloudy draught cider on at the time of my visit and the food - well, if you want a subtantial meal, home prepared and cooked, just like mother made, this is the place. Two meals for a tenner, but as I was on my own, I pigged out for a fiver on four lamb chops and six different vegetables! This is a pub that appears to rely on it's locals for it's main trade and long may it do so. What a pity that I'm not passing this pub on my way back up the Worcester and Birmingham Canal. Wish this was my local! 10/10

It was OK but did not live up to expectation. The beer WAS good, very good. Great range, and clearly well looked after. The food was OK, very average. The staff were OK, not particularly friendly. Maybe it's my face. Or my wife's.

Visited a couple of times in September , once at lunchtime for a meal - unfortunately no food was being served , but gave it a second channce on an evening . The staff are friendly and the ales are all very well kept and well priced - on a nice evening you could sit outside which can be pleasant - provided the sewage tank at the marina isnt being pumped out (which it was) but inside 3 small pleasant rooms and some charecter . My friends ate and said the food was great , it certainly looked good . Not sure which beers we had (all are free trade) as you cant see the pump clips from the side room - it is just a case of Near , Middle or Furthest away !! Would go again , its growing on me !!

Lovely canal-side pub. If you don't know, it might take some time to work out that the entrance is from the back via the marina (poorly signposted). An excellent lunchtime pint, and a good pork pie.

A lovely authentic canal side pub with an excellent range of beers (always at least one from my favourite brewery Weatheroak). Just a shame it does the old thing of closing late afternoon, suppose that adds to the authentic charm! Well worth a visit.

A wonderful, sprawling old delight of a place, more than worth a visit from afar for a few pints of something suitably traditional and a helping of tasty home-cooked food. The owners are incredibly friendly and welcoming, and you can't beat it for availability of post-roast walks through the Worcestershire countryside.

Could this be the best located pub anywhere? A short train ride from urban surroundings to a country setting, which provides plenty of opportunity to combine a visit to the pub with some walks, or just look at some lovely scenery. Forget the pub, it's worth coming to Alvechurch just for that. But you really shouldn't forget the pub, because it's just as fantastic as Alvechurch itself.

A great place for those who enjoy ales of all kinds, you'll find plenty to suit your tastes. A Sunday roast sampled here was plentiful and tasty, so no complaints there. The rooms are old fashioned, in that you have to walk through corridors, doors, and so on, in a most homely fashion, but there is an outside seating area as well. In short, the ideal pub, in the ideal place to spend a Sunday afternoon.

The Greatest?

Ever-changing beautifully kept ale, massively portioned and supetbly cooked food, friendly welcomin staff, cheerful clientele, lovely location. And I only came here for the first time yesterday? I have some serious catching up to do..

This is a lovely pub to visit. It still has interesting small rooms and they serve good quality real ale from a variety of breweries. By a canal and boatyard, and holds real ale beer festivals.
