please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

i think the pubs around here are all of a low standard, but i think this has a lot to do with the clientelle in cranleigh.....not very good

generally poor by any standards

Not quite sure what it is but there is something missing in the atmosphere of the place. OK enough but 'erm... Yeh, just OK

It provides a decentish ale or two but the landlady cuts a mournful figure and the food is mediocre at best.
Tobias_the_Pickler - 15 Aug 2008 01:06
I have to say this is the standard for Cranleigh pubs and if i lived here would prob.give up drinking. So not moving anywhere near this village thank you very very much.

What a waste of a good pub, atsoutar you hit the nail on the head last year, the pub itself is actually quite nice but why oh why is it full every night of the local trouble makers!? It's still the same, would not want to venture in here unless armed like rambo!

Simonkey7 - 9 Apr 2008 21:03
very uninviting full of trouble makers. This does have the potential to be a great pub

you can buy cheap christmas trees from the local pikeys in here in december, i can't think of any other reason for going in

Sorry Beersupper, 'Rectum-Portals' like musicman actually think they're clever but I must admit that one got past me !
Biker - 22 Nov 2007 08:34
Come on Biker you must have noticed that the last 3 comments were made within 3 min`s of each other.
So musicman have you just started working in this establishment ??????

Anonymous reviews that just speak positively about a place that is considered poor do nothing for this site. What has actually changed as the previous two anonymous reviews could have been written by anyone ! eg, staff / owners / favoured customers etc. If you're new to this site click on usernames and you will see where others have been and what they've said about other pubs. ps I grew up in and around Cranleigh and this place was one of the best until our last visit - see review 29 April 2006. We will return when someone describes What has actually changed for the better !

Friendly place with nice surroundings (exceptional for Cranleigh pub standards!) Young crowd but nice people.

Really like the friendly atmosphere here, good food too. Thank you for a great evening.

An excellent pub with well kept beers, excellent accommodation for the price and friendly, attentive bar staff. Astonished at the other reviews on this page!?!?! Particularly the "do you know who I am" attitude from one_for_the_road pillocks.

good pub staff bit slow happy chatting amongst themselves

That answers my question i asked on the Onslows page thank you anonymous 26th May.

this is one of those pubs the police are very keen on visiting on a regular basis...if you get my drift. i would not go there without an armed guard.

Been here once, on drum'n'bass night I'm sorry to say. The place itself seems okay - nice location, pleasant decor and darts board etc. However, on the night I went in it was full of the local yoof making a nuisance of themselves and crap music at a volume which made conversation a no-no.
Seemed to have potential, but I can't recommend it on this showing

Unfortunatley, this seems to be one of those places where the staff come in purely to socialise. Don't expect to be greeted or served if you don't know them.

Also does it really take two people to put through a card payment, with thier backs to the customers(who's names they didn't know, or i'm sure they'd have dropped everything and served us) who were waiting at the bar.

Beer was very expensive, 6 for two pints.
one_for_the_road - 29 Oct 2006 16:26
does accomdation and an expensive pint. Semmed to be kept alive by the cranleigh youth crowd last time i was there
