Still "closed for refurbishment".
Still falling to pieces.

This place has been open and closed at various times over the last couple of years. Seemed to have become the centre of Finchley's budding Polish criminal element when it was open.

What's certain is that it has now been shut for at least three months, ostensibly for 'refurbishment'. I suspect it may have finally died as a pub.

Hey when I was assistant manager here about 8 yrs ago, I ad a regular food trade for luch, sports mornings including fry up. Whats happened? Am really disappointed to hear this. Never new of Emma Bunton coming in but did use to have Marc Warren poppin in every now and again. I'd come back and bring the pub back to where it should be again.

Was closed when I strolled past on a Saturday afternoon recently. Not entirely surprising as it was a very odd and ramshackle place, but in an area poorly served for pubs, I hope it reopens soon.

This place has two pool tables and two dartboards so it is a decent enough place to pop into with some mates for an hour or two of pub sports. I say with some mates as, apart from one or maybe two people at a push I found the patrons of this pub to be quite unaccommodating. It is a shame as there are also two projector screens for showing Sky and Setanta and they have just started up the live music again at the weekends.

There is still no real ale, but I enjoyed my Guinness and there is also a selection of bog standard draught available. The staff were friendly enough, but I got the impression that the locals arent that impressed with the owners and feel that they are trying to bleed the place dry.

Unfortunately, I think that Ill leave this pub to the estate crowd and drink elsewhere in future.

Now open at 16.00hrs only. No food bar crisps and nuts.

The guiness is good. Apart from that the place is dead.

Has the best bar staff in the area, and great characters to sit and chat to. If you want an unbelievably friendly and fantastic service. ASK FOR CHRIS. and tell him Raph Reccomended him.

LOVE THE PLACE.
have also played music there every sunday for a long time, and the reception is great.

Stumbled in here the other night; a very odd and not very nice place. No real ale at all, and very little in the way of pumps at all at the bar. Odd decor which looked rather temporary and empty apart from a cluster of people playing some sort of pool tournament. More a youth club than a pub, and not a very nice youth club at that. Don't bother.

After the change of ownership the pub has gone through alot of change, they have various events happening from pool competition every tuesdays, quiz nites on wenesdays darts competition on thursdays, dj evry saturdays and even a Live music/acoustic nite on sundays. Now under new ownership and as i understand it will become an indo-asian type club.

Great "little" boozer, with plenty of "Characters" to talk to and mingle with, who do not become offended at the attempt to converse with them. Unlike other poncy joints locally. Shame there is no real ale though

Dingy and vast. No real ale (despite 8 hand pumps on two bars and a fading sign outside saying "real ales").

No sign of any refurb, beyond the outside being partially repaionted a few months ago. This is a run-down pub-company-owned can't-be-bothered sort of place that could be so much more.

Sad.

i,ve a feeling that the early stage of the re=furb has started, any one know ?

Interesting Fact about the Queen's Head: this used to be one of Emma Bunton's regular haunts before she became Baby Spice. So a bloke who plays darts with her Dad tells me, anyway.

UPDATE yesterday went in, no longer ale . manager/owner says that it is being re-furbed in september . enquired what form that this would take ensured 'it's not going trendy, it'll be the same old dirty wallpaper, just new dirty, old wallpaper, i'm a strong believer in proper pubs ' i can't help my scepticisn, it takes very, very little to destroy a pubs traditional nature and atmosphere, the odd brown leather couch here, the odd tall, small, round table there . fingers crossed .

this is the only so-to-speak real pub in the whole of finchley central, no gimmick, no theme, no slant, no pine, no stainless steel, no chrome, no brown leather couches, just a pub pub . has recently started selling London Pride after over a year of being keg-only . let's hope that this one remaining real pub in N.3. remains, and remains free of a re-furb-job or poncification .
