user reviews of the Station House, Tonbridge

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Starthed having 'live music' on a Tuesday. Great! Trouble is it is just a load of local students trying to be rock stars. Dull folk and incompetence.

Saw two decent adult bands. One ended up in an argument as the guy promoting kept turning them down. That ended in them storming off. The other , some weeks later, were told to turn it down and it simply wasnt loud enough.

Beer OK, nice refurbishment, but a bit dull. Might go back in a few months.

New name, same problems. Expensive beer, moronic staff, strange clientele and in need of a good clean.

This pub no longer exists. It has been replaced by another pub in the same site, called Mojo's Bar.

Pretty strange place. Barmaid had no idea what she was serving and that Guinness and lager are different things. She was nice, but pretty short on brain which was a shame. For some reason, when we were in there, the bar staff let some 8'ish year old kid skate around the place on Heelies. None of us could understand it, I kid you not. Some of the other customers weird dead weird and creepy. The loos were a disgrace. All in all, this place is now well f***ed up compared to what it was like a few years back.

a very strange pub - it's like being in a david lynch film. i don't know if this is a good or a bad thing.

Rubbish pub, the locals are typical and what you'd expect from a pub like this. It's a great size and could be turned into something great if someone had the bottle to turn away some of the people. i saw a band once that had all their gig smashed into because a punter was so drunk he was herling abuse and fell in to them. Do not go in here if you want a nice evening out.comments welcome but you wont change my mind

I really think some of you guys are over-reacting!! Ok some of the regulars can be a bit off putting at first but if you make the effort to talk to them instead of looking down your noses then you will soon see that they are a lovely bunch and don't mean to be rude!! They have Jam Night there on a Monday which is okay I guess but has gone downhill a lot in recent weeks. I have heard rumours that it will be moving to the Bell at some point though..Don't even get me started on that pub!!!

As from Thursday there will be the return of Live Music starting with Blizzard........This brings me to my next point, How can you say that it is just full of Chavs?? Jam Night and Live Bands are rockers nights effectively!! You couldn't get more of a mix of people if you tried!!

Right ok rant over.........Off to the Station House!!

P.S A tg is Tommy Gunn, The guy who organises Jam Night

whats a tg? this is a bar that has improved a bit but not enough by a long shot! the comment below is pretty much on the money i don't know this john but he might want stop the f@*k heads from bullying people that would go a long way in keeping groups in!

i just think its a bad bar better than maybe 3 months ago but still pretty awfull? john is a nice guy but maybe thats not enough as for being compared to the wharf what do you expect the station house had its time and blew it! when it was only late bar in town we all went there before ice because no matter how bad it got, because we had no option now there is a wider choice and it didn't stand up to the competion. natural selection states that the weak and unadaptive give way to the strong and adaptive.

Any1 noticed how much this has been compared to the wharf? not bitterness at TG taking Jam night away from the wharf and back to its original home is it?

I can think of a lot worse places in Tonbridge to be fair.

The bar-staff are absolutely amazing (well most of them) The manager (John) is the nicest bloke ever and the door staff are lovely. Jam night on a monday is great.

Ok there may be a little bit of trouble on a friday/saturday but its dealt with quickly, seriously I've seen far worse kick off in tonbridge's other pubs and the doorstaff at the station house are really good at sorting it out unlike other pubs door staff and they do look out for the girls as do the barstaff.

I thought Friday night was the big night in Tonbridge for 18-25? Anyway, the Station House is OK for a quiet beer at other times.
intemperanceleague - 27 Jun 2005 10:15
This is okay if you are 18 - 25 on a saturday night, good karaoke on a sunday night though!
Drinks aren't cheap though!
