After a couple of recent visits I'd say it has definitely improved. OK the beer choice is pretty run of the mill, but it's well kept and the food is well above par, and good portions too. I'll go back.

Gave it the benefit of the doubt after it was taken over recently. However the beer is mostly off when it hasn't runout. , it takes about 15 mins to get served with mostly no acknowledgement of your presence. The great. bands, which was such a boon locally and a draw from miles around, will possibly die a death since they are not advertised, the band name is on the back of the blackboard in unreadable sized font. The general poor communications, for example no wine list, no band list/flyers , unclear food serving times mean it is hard to know where this is heading. As an example one local who lives no more than 80 yards away never even knew the pub had re-opened for two weeks. Shame since it's an important local resource.

I realise the last post was in 2011, but I have to say when I visited this pub the landlord was anything but unfriendly, maybe it is a different one ? I quite liked this place, good old-fashioned boozer, nothing pretentious, and a good range of beers on offer.

Go to this pub purely for the music which generally are good bluesy bands. The beer is generally ok and the bar staff friendly.

HOWEVER the landlord rarely raises a smile, hello or hows yer father. Possibly the most miserable man I've encountered in all my born years. Which is all fairly odd when you think that his job is mainly interacting with the public.

Ironically therefore this place is a 'Must See' purely for the spectacle of being served by someone so devoid of humour and bon ami, Perhaps he is having the last laugh ??

The sort of pub I quite like, a bit tatty, bare wood floors, in the past would have been called a "spit & sawdust" place. Really nice pints of London pride and Fullers Red fox on, also had Youngs but I didn't try that. Cheap & cheerful menu, most meals around 5.

This could be such a good pub. It's spacious, in the middle of the community and near the station for those popping in moments. Beers are ok, staff are friendly, it has a nice garden and play area. All the things to make it great. Sadly though, it desperately needs a furnishings makeover to show its potential and needs to offer good food to make it more attractive so people will think of it for an evening out. Good music venue on a Saturday night though.

such a shame that this isnt done up better....this could be a gold mine, but instead this is stuck serving deep fat fried food by a miserable landlord. rubbish music, but friendly locals and lovely garden for kids

If you want friendly service and a decent atomsphere forget the Station Hotel. If you want to enjoy good time music don't bother with the Station Hotel. If you're looking for a worthwhile jam night - go somewhere else. Apart from being probably the grubbiest pub in Surrey, the landlord has to be the rudest and certainly the most miserable. Some of the bands playing on saturdays are ok but there's no fun atmposphere. The jam night is run by a 60+ wannabe guitar player who's obviously a legend in his own bedroom - one of those guys who really thinks he knows more about music than anyone else. Give the Station Hotel a miss - the locals do.

Well no-one seems to have had much to say of late so I would say if you are looking for a very good selection of ciders and even draught Westons Perry then eithe go to Deal in Kent or The Station Hotel. I always get a friendly reception and I think the atmosphere and locals are just fine.

Standard Victorian type of pub. Beers are ok. Good music venue for Saturday nights.

Stuck in a time warp and in need of a good makeover. However, staff are friendly and music evenings are fun. Soul Reaction were playing the night I visited - great evening was had by all.

Me and my mate used to meet up at this boozer and it wasn't bad back then. Visited it the other day however, and now have to agree with the last poster's comments - what a hole it has become. Characterless & poor beers too. Shame really.

Quite possibly the worst pub in Surrey. The landlord gets more miserable the busier it gets. The atmosphere is non existent, beer poor, food is a joke and the decor tatty. Most of the locals dont go near the place.

Handy for the railway station, but my shoes got dirty inside.

Friendly little pub first discovered in my college days.

Good selection of beers and reasonable prices.

Friendly landlord and customers with a nice atmosphere, could do with a bit of re-decorating, I don't think the wooden floor has been polished, varnished or even cleaned in years. It has a railway theme (it's a stones throw from Nutfield station) with an odd collection of old luggage hanging from the ceiling.

It often has live music at the weekends and it used to have a pool table though I'm not 100% sure it's still there.

There's a quiz every last Thursday of the month, quite difficult questions and always won by the same team so I wouldn't bother unless you're super clever.

All in all a very pleasant pub.
