please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

The Belle Vue is a 5-10 minute walk from the railway station and is on a backstreet next to the railway line. From the outside it looked closed and I was on the verge of passing by. But then I noticed a light, tried a door and lo and behold, it was open. This is a proper boozer with a good selection of ales and ciders. It turned out to be my favourite pub in High Wycombe. Ales were Adnams Broadside & Ghost Ship, Greene King Golden Breeze, Sharps Atlantic & Rebellion IPA. Ciders were Thatchers Heritage & Cheddar Valley, Aspalls Cyderkyn, Westons Rosie's Pig & Old Rosie & Radnage Dry. The interior is a fairly basic inverted L-shaped room, whilst there is a very pleasant garden to the side. The landlord and customers were friendly. It looked like a band was about to set up. I love this sort of pub. Whilst you may get a better ale selection in other Wycombe pubs, the cider selection was certainly the best and this was by far the most authentic pub I found in the town.

Excellent locals pub near the station. Always a couple of Adnams beers available and they make the most of the other 3 handpumps with some interesting offerings. Promotes live music and always a friendly crowd. There's not much else on that side of the railway line but definitely worth a visit.

quirky little pub,2 beers on which was good quality.asian girl behind the bar was good fun.

It's okay. Has a bit of a run down feel to it. Beer was good but blokes go to a pub to get away from kids running abound. Close to the London bound station exit. Was also more expensive for an ale than the Bootleggers.

Best beer of the day! One of the Piddles in the something, I can't remember.
Nice bar staff!

They work hard to deliver a great pub experience. A great place! Good real ale given the pubco constraints that they presumably suffer from.
captainglassback - 12 Sep 2012 18:23
Locals friendly enough. Good selection of beers and nice bay window to sit in and watch the trains go by! Tried Wharfbank - Cam Fell on my visit. Very nice!

to expensive for a back street boozer, but nice all the same

Close to the station. 6 pumps - GK Abbott and Brakespears seemed to be regulars plus 4 guests. Around 3.30 so not the cheapest place in the area. But a nice locals pub worth finding. Regular music nights.

What a find - great little pub with a good selection of beer (albeit from a limited list). The beer was good ; there was a real fire and although I was the only customer for much of the time, the staff and management were very friendly and keen to chat about beer and the other pubs in town. Look out for the X-rated photo album !! Handy for the station and well worth the walk from the town centre.

A likeable pub, went on a Saturday when it was fairly busy and had a band on. The beer selection is obviusly pubco tied but having said that it was quite varied with 4 or 5 real ales on.

No one ever believed me when I said the Belle Vue was a semi gay pub.....
sailinghomeward - 8 Apr 2010 06:15
Still wycombe's best kept real ale secret. The addition of 2 extra pumps (now 6 in total) has reaffirmed this. All of which offer a great range of colour and strength and kept in tip top condition. The sat night live music of late has been of a high standard.

New paint job finished... food offer to follow soon as well as hot drinks, WiFi internet and 2 more Ale pumps.

Also there may be a regular acoustic jam session on the second sunday of each month.

Things continue to get better

As a practising homosexual i've always felt quite at ease in the Belle Vue. Beers are excellent too.

First time visit Belle View - High Wycombe, July 1965 - Les and Edna Youens were our landlords and our friends. The Rumsey Brown was my favorite, but the Russian Stout was my downfall! Later on, as the years went by, Les went on to the Red Lion and I continued my world travels. Sure would be great to contact some mutual pub friends from
those days before our next visit......Ed & Rosine Turcotte

That bloke now running the place is a top chap and he loves the Ale.. which is jolly well important for a publican. Them staff are rather good too. Well done Belle Vue. Very nice.
Thanks

Thwaites Nutty Black (re-badged dark mild), Rhymney Bevan bitter and Wychwood Hobgoblin - all beers on top form. 200-300 metres from the station, go pay a visit (to the pub I mean).

Excellent town pub, focusing on drinkers and with a marvellous drop of Old Hooky. Lots of real pub character.
mtaylor40 - 30 Nov 2008 23:12
Yes, definitely OK. A really good old fashioned oub, no carpets, old floor boards, the regulars remind me of the floor. Incredibly good live music sometimes ! No food, just good beer. I definitely like it. Even the staff seem way above average, intelligent witty, helpful the lot ! Chas the landlord is excellent...BUT ! The female that is to do with the landlord is absolutely awful. She seems to just plain hate absolutely everyone regardless. Everything about her is a downer, the only time it smiles is when something bad happens, or if she hears something bad. She definitely gives out inaccurate dates for the music so that you miss it. The negatives of this person in my opinion are endless.....As I said, particularly good pub apart from her.....

A Proper Pub. cracking selection of well kept ales (last thusday was Old Hooky, Tim Taylor Landord, Olde Trip and a Bateman's )which are always rotating, lovely garden in the summer and friendly bar staff. Best kept secret in Wycombe
Flashaahaah - 3 Nov 2008 13:35
Not an 8.3/10 but passable enough,Taylor Landlord if I remember correctly was my tipple. Not much chat out of the landlord,it was a lunchtime and only 4 others were in,3 of whom could only use one word that resembled "fork" but with an "uc" instead of an "or" in the middle of it. Typical GBG type pub where they have to put something in the wretched book and this is the best they come up with.
an_ecunemical_matter - 12 Mar 2008 20:33
A nice choice of three different real ales during my visit. Pleasant staff and a good place to watch rugby internationals!
midlander5 - 11 Feb 2008 13:00

!!!! - watch this space, but i do believe the Belle Vue has finally mad it into the Good Beer Guide - !!!!

It's a must to go and check out the addition of a new Ale pump. now there will be 4 ales to choose from, and for the (ahem!) lager poofs theres a new set of cold lagers... and they now have Guiness Cold for the coffee drinkers.

and the bar staff are still the best you will ever find in the county.. and they do like a drink, so feel free to buy them one :)

Great pub! Excellent selection of well kept real ales. Nice beer garden for summer drinking.
Linkman - 12 Jul 2006 12:08
Went back here recently and beer quality as again good. Worth a visit for sure.
Gueuzefan - 23 Jun 2006 00:09
A nice pub located close to the train station (north entrance). It won't win any awards for style inside but the beer selection and quality is good. Friendly staff and customers, which makes a change for Wycombe town centre.
Gueuzefan - 22 May 2006 11:25
And don't forget the spacious and comfortably private garden out back. Good pub - just wish I lived closer.
Linael - 7 Feb 2005 22:07
Always a good choice of well kept real ales, friendly knowledgable landlord, intersting selection on the juke box (if you like that sort of thing), tucked away behind, and not too far from, the railway station.
paddymiguel - 30 Nov 2004 14:02

Alan - 7 May 2004 18:52
