get there after 11pm and you'll need a second mortgage to buy a drink,......

Have been in there before and waitied 20mins for a drink,.. although last few times it's not been too bad to get served.

Drinking out of a plastic pint glass always sums up how classy a place is though!
Aceman - 4 Mar 2010 14:23
Still awfull, and it stinks.
SteveMo - 15 Nov 2009 17:36
Left after waiting 20 mins to get served, rubbish.
SteveMo - 18 Sep 2009 11:39
Good old Chicago Rock well it doesnt quite feel like the US OF A but it is ok when quiet but no doubt disgusting when packed.
BestBeerBoffin - 16 Aug 2009 14:46
Poor service, no really poor.
SteveGowan - 7 Jul 2009 21:33
the interior is appealing and welcoming. Shame i can't say the same about the young female manager. smiles don't cost anything, unlike everything else in there.
make.it.a.doulble. - 10 May 2009 22:51
I waited a whole 26 minutes to get served in here last night! Shocking
bish80 - 16 Nov 2008 14:16
Nice visit in the early evening. I recommend this place before it gets crowded at least. A lot of the people seem to think it turns pretty crap late at night when things get out of control. I cannot disagree with them as have not visited for quite a while. I will however say this place has the potential to be good.

For now i'll have to rate it as a 5/10

Years ago kinda 2004ish this was a great sat nigter venue but the last four years this has been a total waste of money as the music people have been shite like a bad school disco, what ever happened to the good sound system and lights that where in there with the smoke machine was a wicked set of tunes every sat, it was always wall to wall packed, shame its just a TURD of a venue now.
ukvenues - 13 Jan 2008 20:37
Awful. Your packed in here like sardines and being served takes an age. So packed that it will take you 15 mins to get to the loos. Dancefloor so packed you cant move. Music is okay tho. Friend of mine had is face bitten whilst just standing at the bar. Lots of loose older ladies out on the pull on the weekend. Food all cooked from frozen and not all that. Not a place to go on the weekends if all you want is a quiet drink

Party_Goer - 5 Sep 2007 15:16

free2go - 5 Sep 2007 14:55
I've had some really good saturday evenings here doing my own thiing ie getting pissed and dancing. I don't get paranoid cos i do my own thing!
wortman - 18 Jul 2007 14:44
.....on a Sat night,..... scary place with scary poeple,....

Lots of singles in their 50's and 60's standing around eyeing up anything that moves,....

Not for me!

ANON - Your mum can come here and rub shoulders with the star of the small screen!
Surely the woman from "wifeswap" drinks here!!
anonymous - 8 Jun 2007 15:24
Could i take my mum into this place? she's 72. I've heard that this place is not discriminative and caters for all ages. She's not after any blokes or owt like that, just good music and a laugh. I've never been in here myself so any opinions would be appreciated.
anonymous - 19 May 2007 15:04
Yo 'anon - 18 April 2007 14:31'. No, it wasn't a ollie and jerry record that you TRIED to breakdance to, it was actually MC Hammer's 'Hammer time'. I've seen you since in Reading and you looked just as hammered and silly then..well done dude!
anonymous - 18 May 2007 14:26
Went here on Saturday night and yes, it is divorced and desperate's night out but I hate to say it....I really enjoyed myself and I'm neither divored or desperate! (although some may not agree!). You need to be slightly half cut to stand any chance of having a laugh though. Oh yeah and the drinks are SO expensive I won't be making it a regualr thing. Service could be better to.
teen - 20 Apr 2007 15:15
I see my previous comments have been removed, fair. I was in here the other night and I have to say that it is possibly the most depressing place in Basingstoke. Is this where people come to die?
bish80 - 27 Feb 2007 00:53
I don't know why people wait all night trying to get served on establishments that fail to provide adequate service for thirsty customers. Top tip: smuggle your own booze in and you can drink while you wait to get served.
anonymous - 14 Feb 2007 18:26
you couldnt fail to pick-up here - as long as you're not too fussy! its a bit like 'the bus station gone out for the night'!! some right odd-balls!
i cant stay for longer than one drink - im running for the door by then!
the guys usually loitter around the entrance and bar area in search for their prey - its all a bit desperate!

service at the bar can be slow and its not necessarily on a 'first come, first served' basis, people who joined the bar after me got served before me!!
the dance floor is too small and the floor could do with replacing as its not in great condition.

in its defence, it seems to be the only place around where you dont feel like the oldest swinger in town!

The last time I went here was in September 06,a saturday, and, I enjoyed the evening. It was packed and it was happy hour. Everybody was having a good time as far as I can remember. The only thing I found fault with was the music volume ..way way way too loud, Mr DJ! There was a guy (hammered) all on his own on the dance floor trying to break dance to an Ollie and Jerry number. If you know who you are mate, you had us in stitches, lol. Yeah, I'd go back
anonymous - 6 Jan 2007 14:02
This place is great if you need to feel good about yourself. You can go out in sweat pants, no make up and your hair tied back and still feel attractive next to the clientelle of this establishment - Please shut this hell hole down.
sparrowebb - 2 Jan 2007 20:55
People know what they go here for..... The beer really is a bit dire and the toilets are normally covered in sick, but hey, that's the effects of booze for ya. Most people seem to enjoy themselves and it's always busy. Must be doing something right.
Minesanotherpint - 30 Dec 2006 12:50
WARNING: only drink from bottles, if you wear heels avoid carpets you may end up staying longer than you want to.
anonymous - 20 Oct 2006 23:41
Well, where do i begin....After queing for a quater of an hour the door person stated it wasn't worth the money, BOY WAS SHE RIGHT!i was confronted in the main bar area by what can only be described as the extras from Micheal Jacksons 'Thriller' video. The place was heaving but i assume thats because its the only place in Basingstoke with a 'Late Licence'(past 12 o clock :-)) a positive was the cool old floorfillers from the DJ which, i assume is because the average age of the clientelle seems to range from about 15-50. a weird mixture indeed. But as we saw everybody we had interacted with that evening in other bars i guess it is the ONLY place to go. SHAME!!Oh Yeah, then i took a leak and was charged for the pleasure by some chap in the toilets!!i emptied my change and promptly left. I still don't think the dust has settled.

Two words. CATTLE MARKET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
anonymous - 5 Sep 2006 18:32
ahh but your customer relation skills remain unchanged! the whole point of a forum like this is people are free to express their views, all that stuff happened, but rather than say "well sorry about that, things have changed, why not give it another try?" you take the offensive!

good luck with the venture!
hugs and kisses xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

kittenfoxytrot - 24 Aug 2006 12:44
grabbed your fanny, skin head girlfriend!!? wouldnt want such filth as you in anyway. new manager here is kickin ass. standards and staff all improved lately, loads happening and about to start opening every night with new drink promos, pa's, etc.
anonymous - 22 Aug 2006 19:49
I think this is where the youth of basingstoke come in the evenings
aleman - 23 Aug 2005 16:06
This place has the benefit of serving some decent non-alcoholic cocktails which is good when you want a bit of a break from the booze. Most pubs just seem to sell Coca-Cola and lemonade and all that, which isn't perfect. Music here is a bit mainstream, nothing wrong with that though. Think the floors must have improved somewhat in the last year or so. Either that or I'm not very sensitive when it comes to floors.

Will2 - 13 Aug 2005 15:55
Popped in the other day, just to remember the ol days... came out after paying 3 quid for a jack & coke wondering why I bothered! For crying out loud it was the same DJ who was in there 4 years ago, I bet when he goes to leave his shoes stick to the floor and he gets trapped!! Whats more went past on a saturday and get this people were queing to get in the place.... whats it all come to???
Craig Chicago - 4 Nov 2004 22:03
When I wnt in there once my shoe nearly come off, as that's how sticky the floor is. If you want to pull easy women from the 30 - 45 age range, you will succeed here.
Alexh1982 - 9 May 2004 12:43
Ripoff drinks prices, that alone says it's worth a miss. Oh and smelliest toilets in Basingstoke.
ray - 19 Apr 2004 23:24

A very old CRC, one of the first. Has not been up graded since being opened, even though it has made thousands over the years. Fixed seating is shocking, ripped, black with grime. Wood work is very old, in a mess. THE ONLY VENUE I HAVE EVER SEEN WITH ALL THE EMERGENCY LIGHTS ON, what is that all about, looks all white in there, nightmare. Some good dee jays there who try very hard to fight against all that, Really nice crowd there, justs needs investment really. Drinks to expensive for the state of the place! Come on people sort the place out.
steve - 21 Nov 2003 02:20
saturday dee jay rocks, wild night there, food bit dodgy, fifteen of us went on works party, food service bit slow, not wonderful, but dee jay well made up for that, really good night out, will be going back for xmas!!!
candy_stevens - 11 Nov 2003 13:56
