The only pub we could find open on a Sunday evening, of those I wanted to try in Copenhagen. This is a fairly characterful establishment just off the main shopping drag of Stroget. The beers are mainly British - Fullers ESB, Theakston Old Peculier & Double Cross IPA, Worthington E and Thornbridge St Petersburg. Cider was Westons Old Rosie. Recommended if you're missing your English beers or cider.

Probably the most pub-like pub in Copenhagen (and perhaps the whole of Denmark), with a striking array of handpumps dispensing a range of British real ales. However, they also had a good selection of draught beers from small Danish brewers, including a decent AZ Ale No. 16 from the Refsvindinge Bryggeri. Thanks to the internet, the 'home from home' atmosphere was enhanced a group huddled around a laptop at the back of the bar to watch England getting knocked out of the Twenty20 World Cup.

Came in here during the European Beer Festival. Sat at the bar and had the Tribute HSD and draught Westmalle Dubbel.

Worth a visit and is reasonably central.

Went in there on Monday 15th September. Very Friendly, an excellent local community pub atmosphere.
Quiet and tastefully furbished so you can just sit and talk, like you used to be able to do in British pubs. Half a dozen hand pump British beers, O'Hanlons (stout), Harveys, Shephard Neame, St Austell (HSD) & Gales. They have had about 500 different beers on since they opened. Plus a good selection of Danish Micro beers (Thisten, Hancocks)

An oasis for real ale lovers in the middle of Copenhagen. Just a minute walk from the busy city center of Strket. A perfect place to relax while the ladies are doing their Christmas shopping. Six hand pumps with well kept british beers and a good choice of Danish Yule ales on tap. I enjoyed ales from Bank's, Wychwood and a delicious Young's Winter Warmer. I also had some very good halfs of Xmas beers from Thisted Bryghus. Friendly staff and guests and nice xmas decorations.

What the others said. Cramped but nice, and the British cask ales are definitely worth the visit.

Not much to add to the comment below- I popped in for a quick pint whilst on holiday, and ended up staying for ages. Very friendly staff, a good atmosphere, and a much more genuine pub than a lot of the rather grim chain warehouses that litter the city

What a GEM!

This long narrow pub is excellent by UK standards let alone those abroad. During my short holiday in Copenhagen this was one of the highlights. Up to six regularly changing cask-conditioned ales on handpump. The best of these during my visit of 26/09/2003 was Crouch Vale Essex Blonde, kept in a condition that would do any UK champion cellarman proud. A burgeoning array of Danish beers is also available, and Charlie's Bar is one of very few outlets for them. I had the pleasure of tasting 4 of these the best of which was THISTED Linfjords Porter (7.9%, rather like a very smoky burnt version of Hopback Stout - exquisite). Fuller's Porter is also available from cask here. Bunches of hops, reportedly from Shepherd Neame, line the ceiling of the pub around the bar.

The pub is often packed but you are served quickly and efficiently by the friendliest team you will find in any Copenhage bar. A warm, friendly buzz of conversation fills the air and, although I intended to visit other pubs that night, I stayed until closing time.

The cellar has space only for the lagers and Danish beers, so the ales are actually cellared quite ingeniously at the rear of the pub by means of a custom-built cooling compartment. The pub is Cask Marque accredited - one of only two such pubs outside the UK - and CAMRA are said to be setting up in Denmark partly in recognition of this bar's pioneering efforts and achievements.

This has easily been the best all round pub I have been in whilst abroad - Well done to Chris, Andy and the rest of the team.
