Visited Penzance with my family in August, we went to a few pubs for lunch whilst on days out. Found the Alexandra Inn to be a nice, clean and friendly pub. The staff we're chatty where as in some pubs just serve your drinks then sit back. The food was ace, the children cleared their plates which is a first. Will be back next time! Keep doing what your doing

Still as good as ever. Very friendly atmosphere. Never any bother. People always friendly. And some nice drinks, including Thatchers and Rattler.

Good quality Skinners ale. A good pub to visit on a Penzance pub crawl.

The Alex was one of the best pubs we visited in Penzance. GREAT owner who cared whether we were enjoying our stay there. Well kept real ales with a nice beer garden out back. Good atmospehere and-at all times- welcoming. Lastly, The Alex is about a 1 minute walk to the shorefront, so that's nice, too.

One of the best pubs we found in Penzance for a welcoming and friendly crowd and one of the wider selections of ales (5 in all - Betty Stoggs, Doom Bar, Bass, Courage Best and the excellent Heligan Honey). Not a particularly interesting interior décor wise, quite plain and unfussy with a few shipwreck and lifeboat snippets on the walls and a rear section that houses a pool table. Clearly they take notice of BITE as a listing of Cornish pubs is mounted on the wall with their (now out of date) rating proudly highlighted.
The charismatic locals will entertain you with stories on anything from shipwrecks to smuggling, beers to boats and tin mines to Todd Rundgren and it was the best part of midnight before we left after what was supposed to be a quick pint. Ladies literally have to spend a penny to use the loos (there are old pennies on the bar which are needed to get in). The attractive beer garden would be a hit in the summer but avoid match days – the football and rugby grounds are just around the corner. The barmaid needs to improve on her music taste as well. One of the more respectable and worthwhile of Penzance’s pubs.

Visited last weekend. Now owned by Skinners, all ales (5) superb. Only downside, the scalextrix has GONE, taken by the previous Landlord, where to? anyone to help this question.

TrIed it out last March, and will be in this weekend 24/10/08. The reason is FOOTBALL IS BANNED.

I visited this pub in September last year, while in Cornwall for my brother's wedding, and was afforded a warm welcome by Peter & Rosemary (hope they are still there, and are well).
Great beer range, includes all the Skinners brews. An enthusiastic team runs this establishment, and the landlord stops at nothing in his innovativeness. Check behind the dartboard for a 52-foot Scalextric track, and there were some quite imaginative adaptations made to his wife's wheelchair during her incapacity.
Certainly a must-visit pub, prepare to be entertained!

A great place to get beer from local micros when visiting Penzance, there always seems to be a few from Skinners and one or two from other local breweries , I had an excellent brew from the new Coastal Brewery when I visited last month. Well worth the walk out from the town centre.

Excellent well kept ales which prob gives it the title CAMRA pub of the year for the region. Had a lovely pint of "Sea Dog IPA" from the local Doghouse brewery.Very friendly service too. 8/10

Cracking pub especially as its within staggering distance of the B&B I stay in prior to going to Scillies in October, (Penalva on Alexandra Road)
Excellent landlord of a type not often encountered these days. Someone who cares about the ales and the people that consume them.
Makes me wish I live in Penzance at times.

A great Pub, good atmosphere, very well run. Peter the owner does an outstanding job looking after his beer. Even has a beer, Pirates Pride, brewed espacially for this pub.

Friendly pub, knowledgeable owner. Close to Blue Dolphin Backpackers. Had a lovely evening there in January with my daughter. A nice variety of brews and the mulled wine in winter hit the spot.-bgough

A great pub with really friendly atmosphere and the beer is in tip top condition. They encourage you to tell them if you think the beer is OK or not, but it's always good! Cider was on when I was there too in a barrel on the bar with a chiller on it!! Nice touch and not seen before by yours truly!! Local brews stocked. A cracker !!!
