I am local and I go to Banus more than I should in the day. At Banus, the bar staff are very friendly and I reward them with inflated tips because of this, the one of Persian descent is beautiful and intuitive to customer's requirements. However, be warned if you like branded products. They do not even serve Pepsi as the standard replacement for Coca-cola and Red Bull is Red Rooster. The food is cooked.... by an elderly bald man who can often be heard singing Sinatraesque tunes. He scares me to death. There is also a younger lad with curly floppy black hair who is always laughing and joking behind the bar. He seems genuinely nice which is refreshing to see as are the fish. I love the fish tank. The seating is comfortable, if you want to go alfresco then sit in the middle. You really don't want the smells from the places either side filtering through the air. Smoke also lingers but that's smokers for you. As a club it is a completely different experience that depends on who/what is playing.

Bleaurgh! Too expensive and snotty, staff act like they're bratty supermodels, you get chained in the smoking area and treated like a convict if you try and escape, owners think they're Gods gift to Weymouth and it's overrun with slappers and pervs. Oh, and it costs about 50 for a round. Yuk.

I must admit this is no cheap bar, but you do get your money's worth when your in there. Good reputation for having some of the Uk's top Dj's and performers, and must admit that no other club in Weymouth has 4 floors with different music happening on each. Bad point is the smoking area outside, cause they put a rope around it and lock you in like some kinda animal, and if you wanna leave the club you can't go underneath it, you have to go all through the club, upstairs then downstars just to get out.....pointless. But all of this is on a weekend night, during the day it's a totaly different place serving tea and coffee, very relaxed with very friendly staff. Oh and love the oversized fish tank on the bar.

If you like ale this place is not for you. If you like the Friday/Saturday night circuit so enamoured by youthful lads and ladies and beloved by stag and hen parties then this is the place for you. A little more mature than The Lizzard etc. But not as mature as Dorothys. If you must go to a bar/club and you have a fair margin between your 18th birthday and your current age then this may be a place to consider. Not cheap.

This place is shunned by locals due to the massively inflated prices and entry fees.

To put it into perspective a half pint bottle of Magners costs around 3 and a full pint bottle can be picked up in most other pubs for about the same price.

They tried to charge me 6 the last time I thought of going in there and I will not be visiting again!

You can have a far better night in any of the other clubs and still have change for the customary pizza/kebab and taxi home.

The service is crap as well. The barmaids seem to busy worrying about their nails than serving the customers.

As a local, I personally feel Banus is an improvement, definately compared to places like Rendevous - everyone packed in like cattle! However, the bouncers thing they are gods, after ruining my birthday bash up there!! However, once passed the potentious gorillas (bouncers), good night and good music every time!! Need more clubs with facelifts as beginning to get dated on the club side of things, but improvement on pubs though!

Improvement on the Mailbu and the live percussion is great. Wonder how it will keep going in the winter, a few of the locals have had their noses put out of joint by the dress code policy. A friend of mine was turned away for wearing a beanie the other day, when we tried to explain he had just lost his hair due to Luekemia they just laughed. Also apparently hooded tops on boys are banned, but not during the week when they're empty, just on the weekend when they dont appear to need the local trade (in the summer - having done a Saturday night there in the winter and my firend and I were the only people in there), and three quarter length trousers on men, cmon Banus ! All the guys in Bournemouth wear them out, keep up with fashion !! All in all Banus is a good place to go, but it needs to remember that this is Weymouth - not Klutes in Bournemouth. Weymouth is a summer town and relies on its locals to keep it going in the winter, look after them.

Grace must be new to Weymouth as bar banus (malibu) used to be the under age drinking haven of the 80's and 90's. It is an improvement but not really good enough.

AAS A WEYMOUTH LAD. I DONT RATE THIS AS A VERY GOOD PUB. IT IS VERY PRETTY BUT HAS NO ATMOSPHERE AND FULL OF WANABE SNOBS. MY ADVICE IS GO A COUPLE OF DOORS UP THE ROAD TO THE TICKLED HIPPY!
