Was passing the other night, still a warm welcome but you canot turn the clock back. I only had time to stay for one drink but would like to make time for another visit.

I have very fond memories and I agree that its time for new ones to be made.

I will revisit.
I would not put a rating after such a short visit.

The pub was taken over a few months ago by a Greek and his English wife. Its fantastic, great atmosphere excellent beer and fantastic food, they also seem to hold regular events such as Greek evenings, an Irish night and an Easter BBQ and egg race!

I shall be going back the welcome and warmth of the atmosphere was infectious and a real change from other pubs which have seemed to become more clinical rather than traditional.

Was passing today. It was sad to see a once great pub closed down.

It nice to see Andy Taylor post a note. He and his family worked hard at the pub,

Locals still remember the Taylor's. When they purchased the pub Brian offered David Godfrey £1 deposit good faith, David was rather taken back.

We had some good nights and some times we saw the sun rise. People used to travel miles because of the food.

I used to live there from 1984 to 1986 with my parents who owned it for 2 years, we all tried really hard to make it a success, and with the help of the local people it became a very successful little pub , 30 years on I have very fond memories of the people and the pub , it became the community centre for the village , much more than just a pub, at the end of the day its the customers that make a pub what it is, it was a tiny close knit community . All that has gone now from every village in the land, I could cry when I see what "progress" has done to the society we find ourselves living today, if the STAGS HEAD has closed it is a genuine shame , just the same as it is with every other pub

Looks like a very nice village pub, with a thatched roof. But can confirm that it was closed on our Saturday night visit yesterday. The sign is still there. But it seems to be out of business.

I was told that this pub is now closed. I used to live in Swalcliffe in the 70's. Some nights it was hard to even grt into the pub.

I am shocked if its true that it is closed.
