A large pub geared up for hoards of hungry tourists!

However inside is quite cosy and the range of beers and ales is impressive.

Not too bad for a major tourist town!

7/10

I'm probably one of the few people to visit Tintagel without visiting the castle or any of the Arthurian tourist hotspots. But we emerged from the winter fog to try the King Arthur Arms. It's a fairly large pub that was populated by locals out of the tourist season. There are plenty of tables and some were being used by diners, eating from a fairly basic menu. A pool table appeared to be the centre of attention. Ales were Tintagel Cornwall's Pride, Harbour Special & Merlin's Muddle, Sharps Doom Bar & St Austell Tribute. I was hoping for a real cider. But when I enquired, I was told all of them were real! You can't win them all! My wife did enjoy the draught Rekorderlig Strawberry & Lime, which was certainly 'real' in one sense.

best pub in Tintagel. At least four real ales on - the best of which were from the local Tintagel Brewery. Quality Ale.

Food was good and service excellent. Typical pub fayre but very well done.

50p pool table!

Very large pub that doesn't look particularly clean or cosy. Quite a lot of slot machines. We didn't try the food, which looked average.
The beers however were excellent. Great choice of the local Tintagel Brewery, the only place around that had so many of them, and in top condition too.

Positively surprised by the range of real ales available, and especially the 3 different ales from the local Tintagel Brewery that were on tap. These were by far the best quality ales I have tasted in Cornwall; Fresh, hoppy, fruity aftertaste. Think they were "Gull rock", "Harbour Special" and Castle Gold".
When it comes to food I found it more average. Lots of indoor space, quick service, nothing wrong with the food.
Some disturbing slot machines reduced my overall positive impression.

Open plan pub with good range of beers. Looks very nice from the outside. Very clean loos. Dartboard and pool table. Usual disinterested young barmen/maids that you find in tourist spots. We had their Chilli con Carne and a Cheese Ploughmans for lunch. The cheese was the mildest lump of rubber I've tasted in a long while, and the Chilli was very very bland, looking like the scraped out contents of a cornish pastie with a few kidney beans added and a chilli vaguely waved in its direction sometime in the course of heating. Oh, and a burnt poppadum was laid on the side, not quite sure why. Don't think the waitress spoke English. Won't be eating there again.
