Slug & Lettuce. Bland bar with above average food prices and a limited selection if you don't like curry. Mostly keg lager. Has London Pride, but it had run out on our visit.

A bit like being in of those furniture showrooms that line the A406, but with soulless megabrand beers and wines. Oh yes, and freezing cold. Despite being the coldest night since february 2006, the aircon was on and according to the barman "Couldn't be turned off, innit - because of the thermostat". As places to drink go, this is as bland and predictable as an ice cube, and of course - that's the point.

Apparently Jodie Marsh sometimes drinks in here, so it could have been worse.

Oh my word, this place is simply shocking. I can't think of a single redeeming feature. The drink, the staff, the customers, the toilets...everything sucks. the fact that it is still open says more about the area than it does about the venue. No no no no no.

once saw teddy sherringham chatting up a dolly bird in here, but that could be any pub, any night of the week. if you're unfortunate, you'll see that m1nge in quite a few of the local hostelries, impressing 15 year old blondes with his 'personality'.

give it up man, your hairstyle's older than they are!

This Pub is now closed to be changed to a Slug and Lettuce

It's got bouncers and dodgy minicabs outside at kicking-out time, which probably says more about it than any comment on beer or service. If this, shouting to be heard, and fighting to get to the bar floats your boat then go here...please, because then you won't be anywhere near my pub.

If you're over 21 ,you're too old.I guess it's the place if you're young and trendy and don't mind waiting a very long time to get served.Staff could do with a bit of training...went in one Sat morning and asked for a spicy bloody mary...the barman looked behind him at the shelves, spoke to another barman and came back to me to tell me they didn't have any!!!!
Will never be Mortimers.....Good DJ but it's well loud. Can get a few unsavioury characters hanging about outside late on Thurs,Frid,Sat.Been a while since I was last in on a weekend evening but it was rammed with quality totty.

Always a queue of under-age drinkers unsuccessfully trying to persuade the bouncer to let them in. Nobody over 21 here on the weekends, but better during the week.

Baseball Cap Central.

Quite nice in the Summer as the front opens up onto decking.

When it's busy you talking about a 10min wait.

Laughing mans name is 'Chick'. Good bloke.

The Hogshead does seem to have gone downhill lately. There doesn't seem to be as many people drinking there as a year ago. It has it's regulars in there including the 'laughing man' who's trademark laugh can be heard most nights. There is a good selection of beverage and food and there are plenty of seats. The toilets don't seem to have been cleaned since they were installed though. There is a nice fish restaurant opened up next door where mortimers used to be.

A great little pub in it's prime, although it's gone a bit done hill. The people in there are friendly enough and the staff are all nice peope. The drinks are good, and it is very comfortable with some nice televisions and sofas.

a nice pub with good priced beer, the service can be slow though and seems to run out of one lager every night

Your usual Hogshead. Well placed in South Woodford, right next door to a very good resteraunt (Mortimer's). Very Cheap beer, especially Heineiken and XXXX. Very friendly staff. Sometimes contains the bottom of the barrel by ways of patronage but usually a good place to drink.
