been into this pub a couple of times in the evening and completely agree with all comments however... avoid in day time if you can as the bar staff are not as good as the evening! the girl i had was rude to customers, ignoring customers and spent more time on her phone then serving people! however the best guiness my partner has ever had, good selection off wines and cheap!

wonderful oasis of a boozer, charming staff and pinters alike

no pretentions here, just damn fine guiness and a good craic as they say

totally agree with views and observations below. I have known this place for 10 years and its always been excellent. Rare for the window table to be available - if you want it go v early!

easily the best pub around. Staff are excellent, beer is amazing, especially the Guinness, table service and a truly irish experience.

What to say...I have been in this pub a few times now with my friend from Tooting I have to agree with the person below; it is a little gem.

Really good beer and friendly staff, great bunch of locals that natter away.

The real highlight is when the guitar comes out and the old songs begin...

My "local" for want of a better word, and easily one of the best pubs I've been in in London. Their Guinness is brilliant, always expertly poured which is massively important. Sample the atmosphere during for rugby matches (particularly 6 nations) and the big racing festivals (Cheltenham week is brilliant). Great staff- regulars needn't even bother ordering, the staff will know. Friendly, trouble free pub, and fairly priced too. A gem.

nice established boozer but due to its size does get a bit busy on weekends

Yes, The Ramble Inn can have a fantastic atmosphere and is definately one of the best and most genuine pubs in the Tooting / Balham area. It can though suffer from being too packed on a Fri or Sat night, and is not somewhere I would go for a quiet chat or with females friends at those times. V good quality beer, good bar staff, table service is variable though. Try it.

This is a great friendly little pub where you could stay all day particularly if you like sport.only time will tell if thesmoking ban will have have an affect on the locals as there always seemed to be someone smoking at every table they can all congregate outside at the back and have their smokes at half time or in between races

lively narrow bar on other side of central tooting

friendly locals but not sure how theyll fare with smoking ban !!

It was a shame that on a Sunday at 10.31pm they were not still serving even though the licensing laws have changed and the pub was pretty busy. It's a long walk back to my part of Tooting especially when you have waled there specially because of recommendations.
Lookide like a nice enough place but not convinced about the last persons comment.
Will try again during their (rather antiquated) opening hours.

The greatest pub in london.

Top boozer, although it does get a bit raucous on a Friday evening and you'll be hard pushed to find a seat. The beer is awesome and as discussed below the table service makes it an easy place to lounge around in. It's a shame they don't do food, as a Sunday evening roast and pint in here would be perfect.

Great little boozer. Brilliant staff, lively draught. Best pint in London by a country mile. It's just like walking in to a wee pub back yonder. The way all pubs over here should be. Will watch the bhoys in jacks and the dubs in the wheatsheaf but it's in here if you want to feel at home...

The best pub by a mile in the area and one of the finest in London. Really friendly staff, great service, good beer, decent clientelle. A gem.
keep_it_green - 24 May 2006 16:29
A good, friendly place. You'll never leave. This is mainly due to the table service :-)

Really friendly staff and good atmosphere, not really somewhere you'd take a date, more of a boys pub talking about boys things. We went as a group once that included one girl; they were the only girl in the whole establishment.

I had a right laugh here on final day in the hurling, meeting an irish mate there for a few beers whilst Cork won. Was totally out of place strolling in and weaving my way to the bar where I was given quizzical looks by the locals for not knowing it was table service. Still everyone took the time to take the p*ss and explain the rules and I had a thoroughly great day as a result.

A small,cosy,friendly pub.

Equally nice if you're with a group or for a quick one on the way home from work. You always feel welcome.

I've moved away from the area and it's one of the few things I miss.

My local for 6 years and still a great place to drink, small but with the table service (that actually feels like they are doing you a special favour) it's a great place to sink a nice load of pints.

I used to run The Gordon Bennett and loved to drop in to The Ramble Inn on the way home. Absolutely fantastic place, I always tell new staff about how great the service is, real shame I couldn't send staff 'on attachment' only bad point is you have to have your wits about you when you get up. Go in for one and end up having more than you bargained for. Never a better bar - went back after three years and they still remembered me. 10/10

My local and what a great local. The bar staff are fantastic and the outstanding table service means you only have to get up to go to the toilet!
Mine's A Guinness - 27 Apr 2004 00:18
Possible the most dangerous pub i have been in because of the table service - you just keep drinking in the happy atmosphere - great small pub, very friendly - guarantee you will never have a just a quick in there though ;-)Steating is a premium - no real standing up room either.
Flawed - 24 Feb 2004 16:40
An excellent small pub with tremendous service.

A delight. Highly recommended on all counts

As close as you'll get to a 'real' Irish pub outside Ireland. No frills, just good service.

Bren - 27 Oct 2003 19:05
classic old-fashioned pokey boozer, friendly, excellent (table) service, busy hubbub at all times. recommended.
jeffrey bernard - 16 Oct 2003 16:19
lovely small pub, table service provided (free) to prevent overcrowding at bar.
