Pretty good tourist pub. Beer limited to St Austell Tribute & HSD served in good condition and ok prices.

This really was one of my favorite pubs. Use to use it in the late '80 before I moved away (yet again!). Visited about a week ago. The core of the pub was still the same but had been heavily extended at the back, but not to it's detriment. As for the beer, well......I asked for a pint of 'Otter', it was presented like something from the river Thames. But the manageress very quickly noticed it and replaced in no fuss.........changed the barrel but didn't clean the line first - result the second pint was hazy and 'tainted'. Must try a little harder in my opinion. Other than that it really still is a great pub.

Im not a great fan of carveries, but as far as they go, this is one of the best. NOT the usual soggy veg and dried up old meat. The meats were cooked just right and they didnt scrimp as some carveries do. Veg also well prepared.
The problem with carveries is that if they are popular you find yourself queuing for your lunch like in a works canteen, and if they're not you get dried up meat and soggy veg. This place seems to have got it just right so well done for that.
Oh and the beer? Mostly St Austell, well worth drinking, and a nice garden and surperb views

Lovely friendly staff, delicious grub in large portions, nice and airy. Great place to stop on the way down or up country.

The Sunday Carvery here is pretty good. The meat is usually VERY nice and they give you plenty of it, but the veg can occasionally let it down. On the whole pretty good but other bar meals I've had there were nothing special.

Great Views. Carvery enormous, we sometime take a walk here from Chard and work off the food on our way home, but limited flair, its sort of a place my Nan would like , lacking choice of Ales and Cider, nothing amzing apart from location.

There are plenty of good pubs in this area, but this isnt one of them.
Altogether poor. Terrible food, poor service and the beers are non too great either. Worth going to some of the nearby by villages to find a far better pub.
