During a brief 2 hour afternoon stop in Cardiff on an 18 hour rail charter from Darlington we visited 4 city centre pubs. Zero degrees lacked atmosphere and customers. Beer was quite good although served very cold and expensive despite lower afternoon price.

Disappointing bar and brewpub opposite the Millenium Stadium. I've been meaning to try the Reading branch, but have never got round to it. Beer is brewed in the premises and dispensed in plastic glasses. I couldn't quite understand this policy, just because there was a football match on, especially when you consider the football stadium is a fair distance away. No other city centre pubs were dispensing drinks in plastic. Beers on were Pale Ale, Mango, Pilsner, Blackfast Lager & Mark's Haverfordwest Pale. The only cider option was bottled Rekorderlig. The interior is modern, warehouse-style. There is also a clear focus on food and most of the customers seemed to be their for the food.

Include this place if you are planning a crawl around Cardiff City Centre. This is not your average pub, it is not a trendy bar, nor an old traditional pub. It offers a very modern decor, lots of stainless steel and floorspace, but the twist, is the brewing equipment which covers the front and one side of the building, as well as offering a Pizza from it's own large oven near the bar. I'm informed that the wide range of beers are brewed on site by this brewery which also has sites in Bristol, Reading and London. I tried the Mango and the Wheat beers, both were good and well kept. Do not struggle with the choice between theis and the very nearby City Arms - Go to both !!

Not really my kind of place - very modern and up-to-date complete with greeter and a large number of attractive female customers on a Saturday lunchtime. Lots of stainless steel and the feeling of being in a converted garage, which it is. To be fair, the beers we tried were good and there is a very interesting range, all brewed and stored on the premises. I preferred the City Arms round the corner, but Zerodegrees is well worth the visit, and a different experience.

Popped in here both before and after Saints game at Cardiff City. Bear in mind haapy hour is 4-7 when all pints are 2.20, I got my round just before!

Black Lager, Pilsner, Wheat and Mango plus a couple of seasonals Amber and Oktoberfestbier. Regular beers are 2.90, others around 3.30. Beer tasted pretty good, particularly the black lager. Decor modern and industrial. Interesting and worth a visit.

We'd gone to search this micro brewery / bar / gastro pub out, passing up the City Arms which is our normal haunt in Cardiff until later, and was pleasantly surprised! I think what a lot of reviewers miss on here, is that pubs are essentially about one thing, the beer. It's nice if the staff are courteous and know a thing or two about the product (which they should to work in a pub in the first place really? Imagine going to get your car serviced and the guy knew nothing about cars, durrgh!! ); and the place isn't and doesn't smell like a toilet, but essentially the beer and how it's served is the key. The Black Lager went down very well with my companion, the Pale Ale and the 5% Ti-ger (with hint of lemon grass!!) was a nice touch too, so would thoroughly recommend this.... We didn't try the food, but the price, ambiance and taste of the product were welcoming. Keep up the good work folks!!

Excellent beer and food in plentiful portions. Chocolate wheat beer was superb on my visit and the food we had was good value. If you want to try something different then well worth a visit.

Popped in out of curiosity, especially after hating the Bristol version. Sadly, Cardiff hasnt got it right either. Slow service sans smile and Pilsner which would shock the good people of Pilzn. No, no, no, this is not a good choice for quality, service nor price.

It now has a normal licence so you can get served at the bar.

We were very surprised on ordering a pint of the black lager (which wasn't available) that the server poured a pint of stout instead. When I asked why this was done, she said that this was the black beer of the week.

She had absolutely no idea that a lager (black or not) would taste vastly different from a stout. A bit of training wouldn't go amiss.

The beer is OK - quite home brewy and served rather too cold for some of us - but worth a visit., especially at happy hour.

I have only ever found the staff in this place to be over interested if anything, great service from all! I agree that the sitting down only is a bit weird but apparantly they are getting rid of that sometime soon. It is a little bit different and a little bit quirky, but overall it's my new favourite bar!

I suggested this pub,I had come here with high expectations as it was recommended to me by the brewer,Chris, who used to brew for the Bristol(boring!) Beer Factory.

It is table service only-you cannot stand at the bar(licence condition) and I felt the greeter was cool with me when I disclosed I was only a party of one but was led to a twin table and my order was taken. Ages passed(during which i observed loads of people's drinks going up and down in a lift!) but then I stopped a waitress and it then transpired my big 1 pint order had been forgooten. It came straight away(3.20 for the pint though,KER-CHINGGG!) then. The mango beer I had was excellent, not as madly fizzy as in the Bristol branch, but that was when I finally got it!! Noted the happy hour prices, same as Bristol and also 4 pt jug discounts.

The place seemed to follow the Zerodegrees tradition which is 1)Don't go unless you're in a party and 2) Don't expect the staff to be interested.

So 9 for the beer and 1 for the service-an overall 5 from me.

This is a cracking place and the fact that they make all their own beer on site is even better, the happy hours are amazing two quid a pint that unheard of for an inner city pub, and if youre eating the spicy Mexican is delicious nice hot and great with ice cold beer.
The staff are all polite and friendly and couldnt do enough for me there should be more places like this in Cardiff!!
