Yes, a lovely pub indeed. I have to agree with the poster who said that the furniture left something to be desired, though. What's wrong with trad wood tables, chairs and benches etc? Couldn't fault the friendly welcome and well kept beer and ss I shall return!

Quite busy on a weekday lunchtime. Nice selection of guest ales, in good condition. Bar snacks tasty.

It didn't have a bad pub atmosphere, either. It would have been more atmospheric but the total disaster of the choice of bar-room furniture, I wonder who on earth thought that was suitable for a pub.

Popped in for a pint fairly early in the afternoon on a Friday so was quiet. Barmaid very easy on the eye, nice pint of Adnams Southwold for me and also had Ghost Ship and one or two more. Has a homely feel.

This pub has really improved over the last couple of years. My husband and I have visited several times in the past for food and have had a fairly average pub experience, but our last Saturday evening visit surpassed our expectations.
I had the haddock with poached egg and hollandaise, and it was cooked to perfection! My husband had the mixed grill, which came with a various selection of meats, including a delicious sausage (we even asked the name of the butcher, it was that good). The portions were of a good hearty size, neither of us were left feeling hungry. Good selection of ales, and my favourite - aspalls cider.
The bar and waiting staff were really friendly, professional and polite. I decided to change my drink order and it was no problem to the waitress at all.
The interior of the pub is a mixture of traditional and modern which is nice. Just one tiny complaint though - pleated napkins in wine glasses isn't a good look, neither are faux flowers.

I would definitely recommend this pub to anyone. !!! 9/10

4 Ales/Aspall Cider - ale ok as was cider - expensive 3.10 pt - and why keep a parrot in a bar ffs!! Beccles is an unwelcoming place...Bungay is far nicer.

I am SO disappointed. Visited the pub on a Thursday evening a couple of weeks or so ago with my partner. The bar staff had a moody attitude and the waitress seemed rushed off her feet. We sat down to eat and recieved a rare steak that was so overcooked, stodgy oven chips and a steak and kidney pie that i can only describe as burnt to a cinder. We ordered two deserts and after waiting half an hour for them, we were told that neither of them were available. There were red lipstick stains on the rim of my glass, salt all over the tables and I found old food stuck all over the underside of my knife. I even saw one of the staff pick a dirty teatowel up off the floor and use it to clean a table. Everything was generally bad value for money and I can say I will never be going there again, not even for a beer.

This pub looks nice from the outside. But inside, I found it a bit too noisy, with music playing very loud. They were setting up for a live band or karaoke. The bar consists of a single room with a few partitions to create separate drinking areas. The real ale selection was Batemans Rosey Nosey, Adnams Bitter, Wells Bombardier & Youngs Special. The Caxton Club next to Tesco had a far better selection of ales.

The worst food i have ever tasted. Any good reviews must come from people who arent used to good food. Even the tea is lukewarm. Dont bother complaining as the management has a bad attitude.

Late review from October when we called in while waiting to change buses for Lowestoft. Enjoyed our Hobgoblin, and also had a Cottage beer.
