Popped in here as the pub is in the current (2016) CAMRA Good Beer Guide.
Was disappointed to find only 2 of the 4 hand pumps were in use. On top of that one of the active ales was Bombardier, not a favourite of mine.
The pub has a local cosy feel to it with a snug bar which was showing the Euro 2016 football on a large screen.
The clientele when I was there, late afternoon, were on the elderly side.
The walls and decorations involved lots of old pictures, drawings and pots and mugs.
The locals (including the local dog) were very friendly. As Ramsgate is my home town there was quite a bit of reminiscing going on.
Maybe it's just one area but there seemed to be a musty smell in the corner of the snug.
Overall a pleasant enough pub though a little surprised to find it in the GBG.

Atmospheric boozer with friendly enough staff and locals and a certain timelessness as evidenced through the old photos and decor. The ambience is as fitting as the choice of beers, and the only thing missing was a cheese and onion roll.

I also feel the reviews of this pub are a little harsh. I live locally and during the week there is usually at least one real ale on, sometimes two, recently they've had ales from Gadds, Old Dairy Brewery and The Wantsum Brewery all at just 2.56 a pint. I agree they do sell out but just ask and there are bottled ales available, Hobgoblin, Pedigree etc.

The interior is pleasant with an abundance of old pictures and curios on display, it's like a mini museum. There are fresh flowers on the bar, potted plants on the window sills, and table displays which all add to the comfort, cosiness and homely feel of the pub.

There is a saloon bar with a dartboard, and a back room with Pool Table and Pinball Machine. There is no jukebox, no Sky TV just an old fashioned boozer where conversation is the entertainment and drink prices you can afford.

I feel the reviews of this pub are a little harsh. This is a beautiful little pub, albeit mostly for regulars. It has not been modernised for many years, lots of the original wood features still exist, interesting artefacts which makes it quite charming inside. They often have Doom Bar or Gadds on one tap, and a very good Ruddles Best on the other. There are occasions when they are out of stock of these and one can refer to Masterbrew XXX or Spitfire Smooth. There is a possibly the nicest smoking area in the whole of Ramsgate at the front of the building, a separate saloon bar, billiard bar and pool room. The toilets are always clean and food can be made up if you ask. The cost of an ale is below 2.50 at time of writing and the service is very good, as the landlords family are always behind the bar. Gets busy when Ramsgate play at home.

I think the last time this pub stocked real ale was when there was still a brewery in the town, before 1968. Surrounded by boarded-up shops and on the way to the "Jobcentre Plus Cynical Laugh". Typical Ramsgate town centre pub, but at least it's still open.

lOVELY OLD BUILDING WHICH IS SUPPOSE TO BE HAUNTED.( ho hum), but the locals would have to say that otherwise there wouldnt be a camra member for miles.
The landlord is certainly a character but cnt be bothered to serve real ale ?!?! (What sort of pub is it that doesnt stock ale ?????
