First and Last Inn, Exeterback to pub details please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.
I suspect that the First and Last is suffering a bit from the Wetherspoons down the road - the range of beers was reduced to 3 when I visited recently (plus a draught cider). They were still very good, competitively priced (as always) and the pub is still well worth visiting.

Visited for first time in couple of years and what a vast improvement, a great range of Hopback ales on offer and friendly service. 7/10

krs360 has obviously got it in for the F&L as well as the nearby Green Gables. When I was curate of St Thomas's Church, just down the road in Cowick Street, the F&L (under the previous stewardship of John & Di) was one of only two places I would drink in the parish (the other being the Green Gables). I was made incredibly welcome, got to know all the local characters, and never experienced anything of the behaviour krs360 describes. It' s a place where, if you're prepared to muck in and become part of the locality, you will make friends for life. The beer was always in tip-top condition, and Sunday afternoons in the company of the Exeter's Irish community was a real home-from-home. Get out of your car, krs 360, walk through the door and find out for yourself. Then have the good grace to revise your comments on this site.

What an odd comment to make by krs360. I wonder if they've ever been inside? I've never noticed any druken fools in the road when I've passed by on the bus.

What a disgusting hole. Full of smelly, dirty drunks. Very unfriendly atmosphere. I have to drive past it on the way home from work, and there is nearly alwasy a druken fool stumbling in the road.

I wouldn't like to drink Hop Back beers all of the time, but they do make a welcome change. The First and Last is quite obviously a 'locals' pub, where you feel that the second time you went there you'd be remembered and welcomed. There were 5 Hop Back beers on when we visited, plus a guest and draught cider, and the two that I tried were excellent. What makes it even better is that they must be the cheapest in Exeter (apart from Wetherspoons). It seems like a long time since I've got change from a fiver for 2 pints. Plus points are that there is an excellent fish and chip shop opposite as well! Well worth a visit.

Recently renovated Hopback Brewery pub with full range of their ales plus Devon guest beer & Weston's scrumpy. Locals' boozer full of character(s) with eclectic juke box and pool table. Beer festival coming up too. Well worth a visit, about 10 minutes walk from St Thomas' station or get buses 'A' or 'E' from city centre.
