Chalkey summed it up nicely...
good for watching sports and good pizzas...the only ale is IPA which was on keg. Gets very busy
|
Good for football & probably rugby (although it's be nice if they shut the bloody door so you could see the screen during the day) & it's wonderful & cheap pizzas!
Oh, it's one of Sky's 3D pubs...but not a great choice of beers & gets rammed when the big matches are on, can be a nightmare to get served.
|
Sounds like a place for the larger drinker!
|
More than a pint?
|
Good for a beer and the football in the day time, wouldn't bother at night. Bad beer selection (Pride and largers)
|
horrific. i signed up specifically to post this so shocked i was. to start with the good stuff: the staff were unfriendly/ simple. the place smells funny and the television in the nice area of the bar had been "broken for ages"
my self and my girlfriend wondered in as the rugby was advertised as being shown. we ordered food, and sat down. our order was wrong (we were the only people in that place at midday) and my girlfriend was asked if she wanted that anyway. she did not. so ten minutes after my food arrived so did hers.
on returning to the bar we were told that 'the consensus' was that the football would be showing. by this point we had spent about 30 quid on rubbish beer and two of the most revolting pizzas i have ever tasted.
hours after returning home (and until now 3 days later) i have been violently ill with the worst food poisoning i have ever had. long story short, it could only have come from the pizza i had.
false advertising, shabby staff, poisonous food. avoid this place like the plague.
|
terrible, terrible, terrible avoid... bar staff were realy rude. the staff decided to flick through the tv channels punter asked if they could put the footie back on and was told this is football, a complete different game we watched as barstaff told the guy if you dont like it go somewhere else... no stars

Full of Clapham's finest Estate Agents & City Bankers. Nevertheless, a good atmosphere on a Saturday night. However, somewhat ruined by an appaling selection of beer. Not one for lovers of Ale
|
Utterly foul. There on Saturday evening - tables evidently not cleared all day, drinks in plastic glasses, floor covered in beer, stench of stale beer from the bar, downstairs toilets could be smelled on the ground floor....
Need I go on? I'm amazed that they're allowed to sell food, to be honest.

Where is 'Bat', pray? You mean 'Battersea'. This is really a restaurant, as witness the dining-only layout, a menu on every table, huge serving area to front the kitchen.
|
Pub with a Pizzeria. Beer average. Full of youngsters. Not too much more to interest anyone really.
|
I was appalled by the service we received. They lied and couldn't care less when we complained they had lied to us. On entering the pub we asked if they would be showing the football to which they said yes. We duly eat and had a few drinks before being told they would be showing the rugby not the football. They only said they would be showing it so we would stay and spend money. With such a sickening attitude to it's customers, as well as being over priced and with run down decor I'm amazed it's still in business.
|
Crying out to be a pub again.
Yet more "coffee" colour coded schemes zzzzzzzzz
I doubt there is a community to this place.
Great if you like cheese on flat cooked dough
|
Enjoyable visit, good staff (They put the Horse Racing on for me). Will visit again when im in Clapham.
|
Proper pubs do not have large pizza ovens in the main bar
|
mmmmmm lovely pizza mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
|
Good place, busy enough to have some atmosphere on a Friday night, but not so packed that you can't fight your way to the bar. Great pizzas and the other food looked pretty good too. DJ and pool tables, fairly modern decor. I'd go again.
|
the pizzas are amazing. It should be a pizzaria. NOT A PUB.
|
nice pizza .....service can go either way, normally rubbish but sometimes good all depends on who is serving you which leads me to belive that the management need to do there jobs better, nice change to be able to play pool eat 2-4-1 pizza on a tuesday would recomend a visit

pool tables are rare in the area, and this is probably to The Ducks detriment, don't know what market they are going for, it's either completely dead, or packed - usually if football is on, and the bar cannot handle the amount of people, a poor effort
|
Busy. Some fitness in there. Don't like it much and wouldn't go unless it was a saturday night. Could have tidied up better when they ruined it a few years ago.

another ruined boozer now frequented by boring, identikit Yah's.
don't they have enough places?

Great place, enjoyed the food and the pool tables are a bonus.
|
brb The Duck in Clapham, make great pizza, but to be honest, so do many other places. At other places you get better service. I feel that the management need to pull finger and decide if they are a pub or a pizzeria, because at the moment it is neither.
|
2 for 1 pizza on Moday night, busy then. No one in there during the day which is mainly due to its location, good atmosphere though. Friendly bar staff for the most part. Pool a plus

A great place! The BRB chain seems to be getting stronger and stronger. Sure, it's not for the more traditional of drinkers, but if you like a good lager, like a good pizza, and enjoy friendly bar staff then you can't get much better.
Good work D.

I love this place. Monday nights two for 1 pizza deal is agreat incentive to get your ass in there. 6.95 for two large 11 inch pizzas. A few beers, a game of pool at 1.20 a pop(on good size american nine ball tables) and off home fully satisfied. Mondays will never be the same! Only criticism is that some people stick 20 coins on each table to hold them. Should not be allowed.......can't always get a game.

The duck is the Promised Land of SW London pubs. Make a weekly pigrimage to this Mecca of pizza perfection on Monday nights where all pizzas on the menu are 2 for the price of 1.
The beer is always cold, the conversation is always sparkling and the decor is erm ... very decorative.
(NB please don't actually go there on Manday nights as then I won't be able to find a seat)

10 out of 10. A second home. I love it like I love my family. I love my family a lot. I know I'm pathetic but I'm also human and the heart can't be controlled.

Beer warm (problem with "the pipes" apprently - come on - its not difficult), served in silly glasses, full of Clapham trustafarians and their Clapham Clones hangers-on. Once the best pub in Clapham (when it was the Dog and the Duck), its reincarnation is an affront and so far from the old model of red vinyl seats, 5 pool tables, live bands, 4 games machines, a jukebox (!), and a fantastic square bar in the middle. Oh, and it also used to serve a cracking fry up on a weekend, rather than the bland gastro-pub-by-numbers fayre it currently does. In 5 year's time pub fashion will come full circle and the the new owners will be trying (and failing) to recreate the magic of the old

The Duck is a great vanue for watching the rugby. I saw the rugby world cup final and will always remember the great day.

Great bar with wood oven pizza's, DJ's on Saturday nights. Pool tables are located at the back of the bar, whilst the bar is good and always busy, I am afraid the staff let the place down and are the most rudest girls I have ever come across, too cool to serve and thrive on attitude!

The Duck is a great pub, excellent food, good casual atmosphere. Has been consistently good over the last 2 years.

Its really good, Nice food, Pool tables, not too crowded

Went there for a quiet drink... Not many people in but the music was over the top. Much nicer on a sunday when there is no DJ.
