popped in for a swift pint/packet of crisps on my way home last week. It was decent enough - still the cheap food, which I didn't try, but I had a good pint of Butcombe. Pleasing.

Well been back on a few occasions now and the price has gone up 3.90 or there abouts but, what the heck still a good deal. although I can say at peak times this place is heaving and on occasions the food or some aspects of it can be hit and miss but, a goer all the same.

Well i popped back with mother and sister in tow and friend .
Like it or loathe it ,The carvery seemed to be very popular indeed, people queing before and during service. You couldn;t cook it yourself for the price.Have been on 3 seperate occasions and it's still the same.So if you fancy a carvery at 3.50 this is the place to be.

A bargain for 3.50p.I arrive around 11.30am and, sure enough the Carvery was there, looking very good indeed.Started off with a pint of the Cornish bitter,a bit to cold for my liking but, O.K nonetheless..
The Carvery boasted ,Gammom,Turkey,Beef, I opted for the turkey and my mate had the Gammon. Fair enough it was dressed with a frozen yorkie and stuffing ball,as were the Garden peas and, green beans but the cauliflower cheese and fresh carrots went down alright Also new potatoes and Roast potatoes..In all honesty i can say for the price/quality it can beat some i know at 7/8-00..The place itself was lovely and clean, together with helpful attentive staff..It,s got to be the bargain of the century,it was pretty full as l left..Will be back to get mother and Sisters approval.I know the answer already....

Now been turned into a 3.50 a meal carvery ...... heaven knows what the food's going to be like at that price, especially going by previous comments on poor quality by other members here.

Nah, don't think I'll be exactly in a rush to come here for a beer in a hurry anytime soon.

drove 50 miles round trip to try this pub, bar service and decor was good, unfortunately the worst meal I have had in 36yrs of pub visits, undercooked/overcooked poor presentation and realy overpriced for quality and portion. Would not recommend this one to an enemy.

Went here for a quick early evening meal a couple of weeks before Xmas. Had virtually the worst meal of my life! Painfully slow service, filthy tables, my roast chicken with roast potatoes, chipolata & veg was a disgrace - having taken a mouthful of the luke warm chicken & looked at the appallingly shrivelled veg & totally absent roast spuds, I quietly requested a replacement. The smarmy "manager" came out & declared that he didn't understand what my problem was & they had "ripped" my chicken apart/ tested it & found it hot enough. Anyway, he begrudgingly agreed to replace my meal (it wasn't like I was trying to get 2 meals for 1 or a free scoff, just a replacement). The second meal was piping hot - so hot the micro-waved carrots (I think that's what the brownish orangey wrinkly pointy things were) were still cooking & almost on a point of spontaneously-combusting, grand total of 2 tiny roast spuds & well, guess I missed my chance to nab the chipolata first time round, cos that had vanished (perhaps it had vaporised). Manager popped out to check - I mentioned the above, he huffed & walked off, as if to say I was being fussy. Disgraceful. Couldn't tell you what the beer's like.
