please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Absolutely loved this place just for its original wooden beams, fantastic fireplace and hearth alone.

Upon entering I got a gut instinct that the real ale wouldn't be up to scratch - so opted for a Guinness.

Like previous reviewers mention, the potential is most definitely there.

The Seven Stars oozes potential tro be a real gem but sadly lacks the beer quality that could make this ancient pub stand out. That said, the Pedigree is usually spot on whenever Ive been in there however, as other reviewers have commented a more fitting name would be the "Seven Seats".

Pleasant enough pub with a couple of real ales on -Brains SA Gold- when I visited and tasted good. Can get a few students in but handy for a decent pint if you're in the area.

Relatively unspoilt boozer just outside the town centre. It has a sunken interior with low ceilings, one small horseshoe room around a bar which lends the place quite a bit of character. Traditionally furnished, although a jukebox, space invaders machine and games machine hint that the pub hopes to appeal to a younger crowd. A mixed crowd on my visit made for a pleasant atmosphere.
Pedigree and Black Sheep hardly the best choice in the city, but the latter was perfectly fine.
It's a characterful place and worth a pop, particualry as it is situated between the Flowerpot and Five Bells, but if you're short of time it can be overlooked in favour of some of the better-known pubs here.

I've often nicknamed this pub the Seven Seats due to its small interior. I was hoping for a wider range of ales, rather than Pedigree and one guest, but you can't have everything. If you go to Derby for a pub crawl then this is certainly one to visit, but if you're in Derby and have time to visit only one pub, this probably isn't the one to choose.

I lived here when I was a kid. My brother shot the glass of the front second floor windows with his airgun, and there was a cat called to kill the mice in the cellar.

Is it still haunted? That was the only not so nice thing about the place, for a kid.

Pleasant and unmodernised, but with a youngish crowd. The Bombardier was pretty good, even if it's not a beer at its best when served flat A decent stop on a Derby crawl.

This is a great pub - I was in here twice over the Christmas period. A proper old boozer with friendly locals, decent beer, and heaps of history. What other pub can boast a 17th century well in the back bar?!

This pub looks a bit run down from the outside but I'm pleased it's still open, we need to retain old character filled pubs like this one. A plaque on the wall dates the pub at 1680.
