Lovely old village pub. Rother Valley Level Best and Harveys Sussex Best were in fine fettle. Well worth looking out if you are in the area. I agree with Alerover's post in 2008 that if you are on the Kent and East Sussex Steam Railway, Northiam station makes an excellent alternative to Bodiam.

Although it has a fairly compact bar but had an excellent range of real ales including local beers from the nearby Rother Valley Brewery. The long thin lounge is reasonably comfortable. The food is reasonable for the money

We stayed here overnight during a long distance cycle ride. It was a lovely place to stay with quirky old rooms. The beer was great, with a very good range and variety available, Goachers and Rother Valley Level Best being a partivular highlight. The bar staff were very helpful and had a lovely evening meal. Breakfast in the morning was also very nice with the bacon being exceptionally nice!

Excellent pub serving a beatiful pint of Rother valley, level best I think. Good garden for the kids , Boules for the adults, and a friendly landlord, even if he is a Hammer.

Most visitors to the Kent & East Sussex steam railway travel from Tenterden to the terminus at Bodiam and walk to the castle. Personally, I prefer to skip the castle and head back to Northiam station, where a 5 minute walk up the public footpath to this pub will be more rewarding. Serving Harveys beer plus guests, the beer garden is a must, with a play area and a boules/petanque rink although the pub has an excellent interior as you expect from one in the country. Food and accommodation here too.

Popped in for Sunday roast. As I've said before, the food's not cheap, but it's good, and there's four decent ales on the hand pump. And two of them aren't the ubiquitous "get everywhere" London Pride and Harvey's

Very good pub serving (amongst other beers) Rother Valley's Level Best which is brewed only half a mile away. A welcoming atmosphere, family friendly and clean. Excellent food, not cheap, but then you get what you pay for. Have used the place for family Xmas dinners and family reunions in the past and have never been disappointed
