A spacious pub split into 2 parts, bar and food lounge. 2 dart boards a pool table and sky sports. Locals were friendly enough and pub is comfortable. No real ales which is a shame so opted for the Guinness, would call here more often if they served ale.

I went to The Gander Inn in Gander Green Lane in Sutton for a quick, quiet drink and a bite to eat after delivering mayoral election leaflets . I was greeted by two rude bar staff, including one named James. They were rude only because I wanted a receipt. For that he tried to get me to leave, and that's in spite of having already bought a round of drinks (and shortly afterwards some food). So this is a pub to avoid.

If someone buys food or drinks with Apple Pay or a contactless card, they should be politely offered a receipt without argument as proof of purchase (not giving a receipt leaves the customer with no record of what was purchased. Apple Pay only details the cost and not the items bought).

Before I could ask for a receipt for my food order he raised his voice, and instead of politely giving me a receipt he refused to complete my food order. He was argumentatively rude, and even pointlessly suggested that I would accuse him of overcharging me when he presented the card payment terminal. I would not have done when there was no reason to. I just wanted my food and to sit down to have a quiet drink. #bad_service

Potentially, quite a decent pub, despite no ale whatsoever. Quite long & narrow, but plenty of a variety of seating types. Two dartboards & a pool table at one end. Food looks decent value as well. For those who don't like drinking chemical tasteless fizz, there are bottles of London Pride. TVs throughout for sport

A stonegate pub.Excellent mix grills in here at £7.99 and wine at £6.99.Not a place ive been in for a long time, but was recommended by neighbours and glad we tried it.Think their monday club is even cheaper then a weatherspoons.

Two distinct halves. One half is the public bar. I would prefer to use the term "hard men" rather than chavs. They may look menacing but are generally friendly although I would not fancy picking a fight with most. The other half is the restaurant which, although an extension of the bar, is quite separate.
The menu is quite extensive and the service is friendly. Price of drinks and food is very low. Real value for money. Paid just over 20.00 for two pints, two large glasses of wine and two main meals. Now that is good value. Nothing fancy about this pub but I certainly do not feel threatened - and I have been a few times over the past years.

Well I have to say it's not like that now, very friendly and welcoming.

I'm glad I wasn't here when it was!!

If only the pub had Doorman, I might have been lucky enough to have been turned away for not dressing like a CHAV!
Not a nice experience for normal people.
You've been warned.

If you like pubs inhabited with people in Hackett T-shirts and Burberry apparel - this is a boozer for you. Good luck.
