please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Closed down for quite a while, now reopened as the Barbury Inn, not tried it yet but it looks nice from the road. Far more foody than it used to be from the looks of the place.

My partner and I went for a meal at the Bell last night with his parents who were visiting us for the weekend. We have often driven past and thought it looked nice and after checking the reviews on here we decided to give it a go. The prices were very reasonable, the decor was very nice, the food was very good. The only thing that let the place down was the fact their staff were allowed to wear whatever they liked it seemed. So the girl behind the bar was wearing a very unflattering grey tracksuit style top which was sleeveless and showed off her tattoo on her arm. Also not nice to see them having a drink at the bar, wiping their mouths with their hands and then serving food. Also not too keen on them unwrapping the after dinner chocolates for you - the less contact with food the better! It would be good if they ensured their staff all wore a uniform of simple black and white - as the casualness of their clothing did not mesh with the decor of the place or the kind of food they were doing. Other than that it was an enjoyable evening.

The village has needed a pub like this for a long time! We have needed good value and quality food here for a while; the food & service both live up to their slogan 'A passion for food'. We felt that the starters, mains and desserts (the cheeseboard) were all of a very high standard and that the friendly service gave the place a warm family feeling. I would strongly reccomend to all locals & tourists and will certainly be returning again!

Good Job! :)

Booked a table for 6 on mothers day based on features in local paper. Roast dinner consisted of not much meat, roast potatoes had been kept warm and were hard.
One soup with roll, the roll had not been cooked properly and was doughy in the middle. One of the diners was still hungry after the roast and had two sweets. Waited ages for the bill while the staff were laughing behind the bar, so did not bother with coffees.
On the positive side the vegetables tasted fresh and the young lads working there were friendly and helpful.
None of us intend on returning.
