A whole hoard of us turned up for a large family gathering last Sunday. I am amazed they weren't overwhelmed by us. I asked for a beer which was clearly off (don't staff test beer before selling it to customers?) One barman said "I don't drink beer", not a good sign. I chose another beer and the handpump was yanked back maybe thirty or forty times (I'm not joking) and way time passed and a couple of pints were brought to us 'on the house'. The Sunday roast was impressive and frankly over the top. I had a job to finish it, which I failed to do. Full marks to the staff though. We were a rowdy lot with the children running around but they did really well. 10/10 for effort but please look after your beer a bit better.

Went in last night. Ubiquitious doom bar and marstons on pump, but pleasant enough. we'd only been inside 5 minutes before the waiters started hassling us to order food, so not the most relaxing atmos. Had an extremely disappointing mixed grill and paid £15 for the privilege. Best avoided if you have any other option, not recommended.

It has had a recent make-over which is all very well, but in my opinion it is struggling in the kitchen department. At a meal for 8 recently, 3 meals had to be returned to be warmed up, and others' potatoes were hard. Visited just for a drink the other night and as I was being served I witnessed another diner return her meal saying various items were stone cold. Hope it manages to sort itself out. Rating reduced by a couple of points.

A bog standard, pre-fabricated, "oldey worldey" pub built about six months ago next to a Travel Lodge. Perfectly acceptable food and beer, but nothing special.

This pub has become my favourite local in which to sip a couple or 3 pints, even tho it is not the most obvious place to stroll or cycle to. It is a very pleasant pub which manages to combine great food with a relaxing, if small, bar area. A couple of nice fires make it very welcoming. Service is always swift.

Visited last week. Mainly a food pub, varied menu and prices not too bad! Good choice of wines too at a resonable price. Great service-really impresssed with both the attitude of the staff and the speed with which orders were taken and food delivered to the table particularly when they were so busy.
