Nice BAR staff and good selection of beers.

Sexy food, sexy drinks, sexy people, sexy service.

Only go here if you're sexy, and can handle your funk.

I love this place. The atmosphere is great and the staff are really warm and friendly. The decor is kind of strange; there's an eel trap used as a lamp shade. Some good stuff on the bar in terms of bottled beers, vodkas etc. and you can get a brilliant bite to eat here too, Sometimes the temperature is a bit hit and miss... in the winter it seems to often be chilly or overly warm. Toilets could do with a lick of paint.

Visted again recently - sadly nothing seems to have changed. Still very hot, still ineffective bar staff and both ales went at 8.30pm on a Friday night!!
Won't be hurrying for a repeat visit - instead try the Rat & Parrot over the road, it's a good one

Having read the previous comments about the poor service at The Tin Drum, I can only say that we had a great meal there with very attentive staff. The gourmet burger comes highly recommended!

Unfortunately the staff are still extremely slow. There appear to be lots of staff wandering around but very few who have the ability to serve drinks at the bar!
Also extremely hot - perhaps to encourage the punters to drink more!

Seems the previous reviewers are right. Nice place, but the service is just very poor. Not unfriendly, just inept.

More like a restaurant/bar than a pub. Good range of lagers. Food is expensive but usually worth it- the Sunday roasts are outstanding.

Try_harder comment made me laugh, cos it rang bells. Yep, nice place but totally agree about the staff. They're friendly enough but could do with being on the receiving end of their own service - especially on a morning after the night before. I'm afraid I don't like the extent of smokiness, and considering this is a kid-friendly place it's surprising (to me anyway). There's one set of couches (the rest is tables and chairs), right by the window and in v.high demand - get there early if you like to be comfy. Food's pretty good and standard price for gastro stuff.

Nice place. GODAWFUL service. Even when it's quiet, they're the most unattentive bunch ever. All on comedowns and too busy chatting to each other. You might find it funny - I just want my damn breakfast! Jeez. Could be lovely. 4/10 for now.

This is one of 4 bars with the same name within Brighton. The other three are in Hove,Kemp Town & Fiveways.
Atmospheric with candles in the evenings, Leffe Blonde on draught.
One thing to bear in mind is that they have a child friendly policy that may not suit everyone. One of my most recent visits there at about 5.30 pm felt like an after school club with kids running around whilst their parents drank.
That being said the staff are efficient & friendly. They encourage table service which attracts a 5% service charge. Gets busy towards the end of the week so table service may well be an advantage for many.
