Visited this place years ago..and this weekend. Good for a Saturday night bar..real ales on - nothing spectacular but a welcome change to the usual bar mentality of lager and WKD! However, only plastic glasses...and not a real cider in sight!

Yes this is a good boozer but we were slightly put off by a drunken racist yob in here.
8/10 for the pub
5/10 for the experience

great pub, good atmosphere and some thing different, prices aren't as bad as people are saying tbh

I have been a customer at the Cider Press for over three years and I absolutely love it!! The atmosphere is fantasic and the staff are all great!! Yes the prices are slightly more than some othe bars but I'd rather pay that and be guaranteed a good night than get cheap beer at an average venue. As for the "customer service being shit", that attitude ain't exactly perfect is it?! And "the bar maid who likes to rip people off", since when did bar maids make the prices?! This is a genuinely friendly, fun place to be which is proven by consistantly being one of the busiest pubs on the Barbican!!

oh my god. packed no room to move and full of nice cider. table dancing was also a good sport for some lasses and lads....interesting but like it all the same.

JUST SO YOU ALL KNOW THE NEW LICENSING LAWS DON'T MEAN 24hr DRINKING. THE CIDER PRESS IS NOW ABLE TO OPEN UNTIL 1.30 ON FRIDAY & SATURDAY NIGHTS BUT ACTUALLY WILL ONLY BE OPENING TIL MIDNIGHT AT A PUSH THE SAME APPLIES TO SMOKEY JOES NEXT DOOR. WE HOPE YOU ALL HAVE A SAFE & ENJOYABLE CHRISTMAS AND THAT YOU LADIES GET YOUR STOCKINGS FILLED AGAIN THIS YEAR.X

absolutely faboulous atmosphere spoiled by the miserable bar maid who likes to rip people off .
at 8.50 for drinks which should have cost 5.70 then denies serving you

This pub has an atmosphere like no other. At the weekend it belts out all the tunes you can sing & dance to.Most people end up dancing on the tables where everyone can see you.It has the friendliest of doorstaff & in the 2 years I have been going there I don't recall there having been a fight.Drinks are on the pricey side but if you are a student & you can prove it they offer a very competetive discount scheme. Its an ideal starting point before going over to the Quay Club on a Wednesday for Jelly Jazz.I'd rate this pub 10 out of 10 for Buzz & 8 out of 10 for pricing.Interesting Gents Loos

Beware on a Saturday night. To say the place is on edge is an under-statement. In fact the Barbican as a whole should be avoided at such times. However, go there midweek or during the day and it's great. A real old rustic charmer and brilliant in the summer.
Good for: Summer

Only 1 proper cider on tap (Old Rosie), which is available at the Maritime a few doors down and is 40p cheaper per pint. They also sell bottled Westons cider, unlike The Cider Press. It is nice sitting outside the Cider Press on a nice day though.

Great on a hot summers day to sit on the quay side and watch all the fishing boats pootling about. Spent some of the best days of my life there! Its pricey since being sold to a new proprietor, be prepared to pay London prices for drinks, but if you love good atmos and good music with your good beer - give it a go! After all, if you don't like, theres at least ten other pubs within a pints distance!
