please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

We have had two family gatherings at this restaurant this year and cannot fault the service we have received and the food is comparable to any carvery we have eaten in. It' snot restaurant standard but at the prices they charge you don't expect that. It' seen good wholesome, hot food with helpful staff. We will be going back for another easy family meal this week.

I will keep this review as short, and factual as i can so as not to unleash a mese of frustrated rants brought on by visiting this "Restaurant"

Although not taking reservations, they do allow "call ahead" in that you may ring 1 hour previous to your arrival to have an available table saved, and to alert them of your party and its numbers in attendance, in this case a party of 5 to celebrate an 18th birthday.

On arrival at 19.00hrs on Sunday the 22th April, we was greeted by a near empty car park and a restaurant playing host to around 8 people, this alone is not really an issue but what follows shows that there were no excuses for what happened, given the numbers that were being catered for, and that Sundays are 2 pounds more expensive for the same meal during the week.
After "seating ourselves", at one of the many empty tables, we made our way to the end of the Queue for the carvery, where the 4 people in front of us insisted our party pass through in front of them! on doing so we was made to wait 5 minutes for a "Chef" to appear from the kitchen to serve the carved meat, where he ungraciously picked and sliced at the now dried up meat selection that had obviously been sitting out under lights for some considerable time, whist trying to ensure that only the smallest amount of meat was begrudgingly "issued!"

The Yorkshire puddings had been subject to a similar fate and had become dehydrated and hard, we was then faced with an array of EMPTY bain marie`s, that once contained the other necessary elements to construct a meal, in a condition that can only be described as the dried up aftermath of a bun fight at a St Trinians leaving party! There was spoons and ladles from brown foods in with whites, empty containers placed in with remnants of gravy, giving it an an overall impression of trying to serve dinner from a draining board!
It was then apparent that the reason we was ushered through by our fellow diners was that, other than the offer of a scrapyard workers sandwich filling, " there was nothing left.

On asking the Chef if there was a restock on the horizon? he then informed us that we "would have to wait 10 minutes!" This then left a party of 5 holding cold plates looking bemused and bewildered while the already emaciated meat started to take on a whole new look! It was then our other thoughtful diners told us the same had happened to them, and that they had already been waiting 10 minutes! So why oh why did the swordsman behind the counter allow us to be served his offering in the knowledge that there was nothing else to come ?
Unhappiness and quizzical expressions were then addressed to the Magician of the blade, to which he said "if you don't want the meat give it back and i will tell you when the rest of it arrives"! And so we did!

No less than 20 minutes later, we was informed that we may now approach the servery to continue with our mission to eat. As was expected, the meat had not been changed or had the portion and service got any better,BUT! what did surprise us was the fact that not all the bain marie`s had been restocked and Peas, Stuffing, Carrots, potatoes were all still missing! The obvious was asked and to our amazement was told 10 minutes! deja vous!
2 of our party could wait no longer and took what was on offer, including the selection of cold gravy, apple sauce, and mustard that was all mixed together like a selection of paint pots on an epileptic artists table, transferring it onto our clothes from the drips and splashes left behind by the obvious mela before us, whist the rest of our party waited a further 15 minutes! leaving us to eat in shifts.

To conclude;

This restaurant has no customer service or care, whilst producing a meal and serving quality comparable to that of a works canteen, it caters with the emphasis on quantity over quality, and the premiss that the customers lost simply make room for those that will replace them.
The standard of hygiene, and cross contamination of food types are beyond words, whist customer service is lacking at best!
Summary: Poor Food, Poor Service, and even worse presentation, well avoided.

I went with a group of friends (2 guys 4 girls) as the normal pub we go to has stopped doing food. It may be a carvery, but you have to decide wether you'd really want to eat there. Its cheap. thats about all I can say. We sat in an alcove, and every stained and sticky chair was different. I think they have been visiting bootfairs for the furniture. We had to swap chairs with others to find some reasonable ones. The table was a breeding ground for scientific experiments. Two of us decided not to eat, the girls did, and I think those that didnt eat won the battle. The girls only ate half the food, the food had obviously been there for ages. I dont want to knock the people eating there, but those that do are most obviously on benefits and go there because its cheaper than cooking at home. In all honesty, we would have had a better time eating in the cowsheds up the road. They would have been cleaner and certainly the food would have been more palatable. Oh yes, and to top it all, the fridge was broken so all the bottle drinks were warm, and there was no ice in the place. The bar person had to go and find some cold one's "out the back".

This is now a Crown Carveries pubs and the carvery is now 3.59, go there quite a lot for that but the Harveys is never on lately, they have now installed some new hand pulls and will soon be offering Green King (IPA I guess), it still wasn't on last time I went last week, will keep you posted, by the amount of customers that go I'm surprised to see so few reviews on here. Given a 6 as no Harveys or real ale on whenever I go, hopefully that will improve.

Disappointed by the lack of beer choice. Quite a few customers at the carvery, so I guess more of a foodie establishment.

This is more of a restaurant than a pub, the emphasis is on the carvery and it certainly seems to be doing well judging by the crowds in tonight. Harveys beer available though, and everything very cheap so I can see why it's popular.

This is now a Pub and Carvery pub where you get a carvery for 3.50 everyday except Sunday when it is 6.50. The food is excellent and you get loads and is cooked well but due to the cheap price it is packed and you may have to queue for a short while for the carvery but it is worth the wait. There is only 1 "cask" ale on and that is Harveys which at 2.25 a pint is excellent value as well and other drinks are reasonably priced too compared to many pubs these days. I will be going back very soon.

This is no longer a Brewers Fayre pub and it has recently shut and reopened again, I have not been there since it reopened but hope to do so soon and will post my review

This well situated pub was a disappointment from the start. We sat on stained, torn seats and sticky tables that wobbled! As the weather was pretty dreadful there must have been a dozen or so buckets in the middle of this kiddie dominated restaurant.I was appalled! There were no real ales available and half the tiny menu wasout of stock! Just weeks before i had plans to take my family there but they were shut due to'electrical problems' so me and my hungry family travelled shortly down the road to a large country pub called The White Hart! What a lovely pub we go there regularly now and we are always welcome with open arms!

Brewers Fayre pub which turned out better food than we were expecting - reasonable quantity of roast beer, salmon and prawn dish had plenty of fish and Moroccan lamb tasted as I would have hope for.
Ultimate sundae looked only worthwhile pud but had run out of half the different chocolate bits that make it up. 2 were still shared and looked far better than the 2 alternatives that were selected.
Main problem being that half the menu wasn't available despite arriving by 1pm on a wet Sunday.
Only ale was a passable Spitfire.
