What could have been a very nice experience was spoilt by the lack of service, or concern. Portions not overly large and we had to find someone to take our pudding order. We were not offered coffee and all with the complete absence of a smile. Left with the impression that 'they were doing us something of a favour'. Nice surroundings and lovely log fire, but we could not recommend this pub to friends.

What once was a nice country pub is now no more than an empty shell.Always empty and soleless. Beer can be good or very bad usually the latter.Menu never seems to change except for the price.Long drive for not much I am afraid to say.

What a crap place!
I used to go there a lot but after a few bad episodes with the food (cold, expensive, unchanged menu, very small portions, slow service) I am not gonna bother with this pub anymore! What a shame though, as it used to be the place to go for a nice meal with homemade dishes, but surely after so many years running this business, the owners should have considered eventually to make some modifications on their menu, just to make it a bit more exciting. The staff - well it is not quite stable as they tend to loose or change most of them and they have no idea what they are doing (bad training perhaps), some of them should learn how to smile once in a while! It really is that bad!
The owners are not quite on the happy side either as they tend to be distant and rude, so not a great example either!
This place has lost it, probably due to the lack of motivation form the staff and their management.... waste of time and money!

Popped in for a quick beer - four to choose from, fairly mainstream choices. My Ringwood was OK. Again, this is one that's mainly set up for the foodies but not averse for a beer drinker.

This is a nice pub, with a good bar. The massive garden backs onto fields and woods, which is just a simple lawn with tables. The midgies love it here though! The food can be really good or really poor. Must depend on who's in the kitchen, which is a shame because this could be a very good destination for a quality meal. We don't risk it any more - but visit often for a peaceful beer!

A good pub in the middle of nowhere. A good place to get refuelled on a Sunday cycle ride.

The beer was pretty good, and the food more than acceptable.
