Should be called Tavern on the Green after school care pub. After a hard week at work all me and my husband want to do is go to our local pub, but this is getting more and more difficult to enjoy due to the amount of young children that are now running around this pub. I watched as children were throwing condiments on the floor as parents ignored them. Two lots of parent in separate big groups supplying their children with snacks and drink bought from the next door Tescos, while they are getting tanked up on beer and wine. Myself and our friend got splashed down our backs with drink when a child fell from her chair knocking everything flying. There are notices around but these are ignored by loud drink merry parents and not implemented by staff......such a shame as there is a good atmosphere in this pub and great place for young and old but now is ruined by a few.

It only gets any stars from me because of it's location being convenient. Kids run wild in here despite rules displayed. Most of the parents seem to know the staff. Tables are usually sticky and littered.

Haven't used this for years, since Crawley Chess Club had their base nearby in fact, and we used to pop in afterwards to wind down. One of the better Crawley drinking houses.

I'm having my wedding here.

This is a weird old place, looks more like a nightclub than a local pub. Agree with it being clicky. Pub Patio outside overlooks the park which has swings etc so good if you want to bring your kids on a sunny day.

I have been living in Pound Hill for 4 years now, and cannot find a fault with this pub. I find the service very good, the food and the beer are all reasonably priced, and the whole atmosphere inviting and friendly.

I am proud to call this pub my local - there are not many places in Crawley where groups of younger and older people get on so well!

I regularly recommend this pub to friends and family, and has become a regular meeting place.

Cheers!

Really not sure why my comments are never registered. Am I being too rude?!
I visited the Tavern last week and still have nothing good to say. I was waiting for 10 minutes for a drink whilst the locals got free pints and cigars from behind the bar.

Having recently moved to Crawley and settled in Pound Hill, the tavern is the nearest pub to our place and myself and my partner thought that it would become our local.

However, the lazy and incompetent bar staff have made sure that this will not happen.

Whilst waiting at the bar to be served we have been ignorned in favour of other regulars, kicked out promptly at 11.05pm whilst other regulars are still enjoying their drinks.

But the final straw was one thursday night recently when the pub was dead and we waited nearly 10 minutes to be served whilst the two male bar staff sat around the corner of the bar, one reading the menu and the other a magazine! In the end it was one the regulars who actually brought it to their attention that customers were waiting.

we would have been better spending our money in tesco on drink instead.

This pub used to be RAW.

Populated by the Hazelwick 6th formers from the year dot, it was a part-comfy part-ramshackle place where I frittered and vomited away some of the best Friday nights of my life.

But the crumbling chairs and wooden beams were then ripped out when aliens landed in Grattons Park.

Never felt the same after that - all a bit unnecessary.

Judge for yourself. In my opinion its to clicky in there and you have to wait behind all the locals to get served even if you were first.

Could be a good pub if you could get served by the bar staff who are intent on ignoring you if you are not one of the chosen few regulars.

Such a Halcyon Pub! Good food, good company, exquisite barmaids!

If you enjoy drinking in an airport departure lounge this place will suit you

a great venue to "MILF" watch, the beer is superb & sunny evenings are nice on the terrace. Still avoid at all costs when spurs are playing, the real illiterate ruff necks appear from the woodwork.

Always the place to be if you were 16 and couldn't get in anywhere else in Crawley. Decided to change its image and turn itself into a UFO that had crashed into one of less fashionable areas of town. The beer is obviously good (see comments about the female bar saff) but I've never hung around long enough for it to have too much effect.

Superb location in picturesque Royal Garden type surroundings. Regularly frequented by that sumptuous love God Parker, a must for any red blooded female!

There's a marvellous array of lagers on offer including the dangerous Becks on tap, and a sprawling sun terrace for sunny afternoons and balmy evenings, it's a glorious pub.

So many words to discrible this oasis of calm, from it's Regal setting to the glorias Sunday Football atmosphere (when Spurs play!), nice women working the bar and even better drinking on the Sun terrace, by far the best pub within the out skirts of Crawley High street.

Great for watching the football, lots of TV's. Atmosphere is fantastic although the interior decor looks more like a departure lounge for Virgin Atlantic. Bar maids are top notch! If you get them pissed enough they'll let you get their tits out! 10/10
