Managed to catch a local circular bus up the hill to this fairly pleasant corner pub in a residential area. It has 2 rooms and a small patio at the rear of the one. Food seemed very cheap. But we didn't see anybody partaking. The beer choice was Courage Best or Caledonian Autumn Red. It seemed strange that so many Swansea pubs were dispensing Scottish beers yesterday. Located not far from the university. But there was no obvious student custom yesterday. Felt more of a proper pub than either the Westbourne or the Wig at the bottom of the hill.

Seems like nothing has changed in this Pub, going by the recent comments posted. What a shame all round, as this was an excellent student Pub in my day , and was THE place to meet, and was packed EVERY night of the week!!!!....

absolute awful place. It's never busy for a student bar but we went there for some food before an appointment with my young daughter, We arrived at 5.45 and ordered 2 lasagnes and a curry. we waited three quaters of an hour (even though there was only 2 other groups in the whole place) until I finally gave up and demanded my money back.
The guy behind the bar was a complete moron. He seemed to think it was in some way amusing that we had waited so long and that he had to give us our money back. He blankly refused to give us a refund on the drinks becaused he had already poured them????
So, if you want to sit in an empty scruffy pub listening to awful music, being treated like dirt by an idiot on minimum wage and waiting endlessly for your food....this is the place! Otherwise go to the Westbourne!

I regularly visit this pub due to its location near the University and student houses. This pub often has 4 different guest ales as well as other beers, and the prices are average for the area. The staff are always friendly and so are the owners.

The food isn't the best of quality, but it does the job, and is served until half past eight (just make sure you correctly read the clock behind the bar).

There are often quiz nights during the week and there is a jukebox, which over the past few weeks, someone always puts on a few Pink Floyd tracks... after all, it is a legendary band!

The outside seating area is small, but space is limited in Brynmill, anyway. It does the job on a nice day. Though during cold weather, it can get cold inside near the door, as it seems that some smokers are born in barns and leave the doors wide open.

During university term times, it can get quite busy, especially during the 6 Nations and quiz nights. Though the place can be really quiet when nothing is going on, which is a shame, really. This pub has a lot of potential to improve.

Rumour has it, that the current Licensee is about to retire, and leave soon after Xmas. Which hopefully, will give someone the chance to restore this lovely Pub to its former glory, as its STILL a dump to drink in nowdays, with NO customers to be seen. Sat in here this afternoon with a good friend who lives locally, and it was SO sad to see about 6 of us in the place, on a Xmas week as well. Probably says it all actually..

Yep, certainly agree with the previous comments. This once famous student friendly Pub, has become a laughing stock in the hands of the present " Tenants "....wonder if anybody goes there nowdays actually....

This place has gone from bad to worse.
Landlady drunk and running around with no shoes on, drunk old blokes intimidating with pool cues, really, really poor pint.
Needles to say, I will never return!

Oh god, what can I say..... this place used to be so good. If the landlords could even be bothered to replace the blown lightbulbs it would be a starting point.....

This used to be such a Good Pub, it was well run, had good food and Beer and a really nice atmosphere, but I called here recently after being away from Swansea for a while, and it was a disgrace. The comment below is very true actually, I found the place to be totally neglected, with dirty glasses and plates all over the place, it was difficult to get served, as no one was behind the bar ( in the Lounge ) and when we did get served, it was awful, we left soon after, never to return again. What a waste of a good Pub.

This, is a bad pub. Food is really bad. Sometimes pop in for lunch but steak always really bad quality and overcooked. Staff are nice enough, but what I assume to be the owners (Two big women, one older, one youner) very very rude. Pub is also normally quite dirty.

Good selection of ales and reasonable prices, but just worth paying more to go elsewhere.

its a great pub where students and locals seem to mix easily think the balance has swung more to locals now though for some reason.
its also quite famous as this was the last place james erazmus was seen buying a round back in the winter of 2003
