user reviews of the Blue Anchor, Byfleet

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

Grotty decor, damp musky smell and that's just as you walk in. As I'm not a local, was treated with suspicion by the bar staff and menancingly by the two guys sitting at the bar who asked where I was from and why I had decided to have a drink there and what I did for a living. Seemed to be some sort of inquisition from one of the guys who had a major limp.

Finished my drink and left asap, would recommend you avoid this place, the Plough is up the road and seems that most of the weird people either don't go or are probably barred from going there.

The Blue Anchor has live music on the 1st and 3rd Saturday evening of every month. Saw a great local band, Six Miles Away, and had a great night.

Great garden friendly pub but can feel a bit of an outsider on your first couple of visits. Loads to do here and always someone to talk to

Friendly pub, two bars + function room. Public bar is louder with juke box, pool tables, big screen sports, saloon bar with seating arranged either for conversation or to relax and read the paper. Good beer garden for warm summer evenings and only pub in Byfleet that does accommodation too.
