The best pub we visited on a pleasant walk from Newbridge to Eynsham along the Thames - it's an Arkells joint which is usually a good thing while a couple of guest ales were on - I forget the name of the one I had but it was something like ginger ninja. Very handily placed on the regular S1 bus route between Witney and Oxford so little excuse not to pay it a visit.

An Arkell’s Brewery pub that’s worth a visit. I had a nice, hoppy pint of Arkell’s Moonlight, in this case from one of the barrels at the back of the bar. Hardly anyone else in at midday during the week. Outside there’s a deck on which to sit looking at a pleasant view over a meadow towards Wytham (‘wite-ham’) Hill, but turn round and you’re looking at the Siemens magnet technology factory. Start an enjoyable walk from here down the Thames Path to the Trout at Wolvercote.

We broke our journey back from Witney to Oxford (the S1 bus stops outside)to have a pint in this pub which was worth the time. Arkells (Swindon) beers served straight from the cask and although the ale looked a bit flat it tasted fine and the lady behind the bar was very friendly and chatty. It would appear to do food (limited menu) throughout the day but please check on this. Open all day and very near Swinford Toll Bridge over the Thames. Dog friendly. The pub is out of Eynsham village centre but the bus service is frequent and we found it very pleasant and would probably go back again.

Arkells beers served straight from the barrel, good value food and friendly staff. Piped music in the bar area was unnecessarily loud.

Revisited the other night with the whole Oxford hash. They very kindly gave us a huge platter of chips free with our beers - thanks.

Been there a few times now for a drink after a cycle ride, hike or run. There is a nice selection of real ales by the barrow behind the bar so take the time to look before you order. Reasonable prices for the area.

The food is of excellent quality and plenty of it. The staff are friendly and the beer is well kept.
