what a change, now a very nice locals pub, what a difference a decent landlord makes

No dossers now. Been completely refurbished and now back to the good old pub it was. Great for a relaxing drink before going to the nearby restaurants. Quite a few seats which is always nice. Started doing food as well.

it's been closed for a couple of months now, where are all the dossers drinking now?

Excellent old fashioned pub - a proper local. Regulars and staff both very friendly and you get a good pint. Weatherspoons, etc could learn a thing or two!

Southsea doesn't have enough pubs which serve decent food. This place does, it has a decent selection of beer, good mix of people and ages. Looks a bit forbidding from the outside with the small, frosted windows but that's a false impression. If you want a "proper" pub around here, it the Osbourne, the Apsley, or the Auckland, and that's it for about half a mile around now.

A very smokey pub with overpriced food. music was too loud and the girl behind the bar to busy reading a book to serve!. i will not be coming back

great atmosphere and real value for money food in this pub just opposite Debenhams in Southsea. The new landlord seems to really have brought this place up a lot and its now well worth a visit. Lots of mixed age groups helps to add to the 'Old English Pub' environment

Well worth a look , bit dark and dingy but more than made up for by the food .

A really good atmosphere with a mixed range of ages. It has that oldy worldy feel about it and serves a wide range of Ales. Good food too and at very very reasonable prices. Certainly worth a visit when in Southsea.
